Bram Vreugdenhil 0 Posted July 3, 2006 There is no way I can change the Unit mark of the area unitmark while using space planning. I'm trying to change the area unit from S.M to m?. Anybody knows how to..? I've tried creating a custom Unit system, but it had no effect.. Quote Share this post Link to post
Robert Anderson 130 Posted July 4, 2006 Well, Bram, VectorWorks doesn't have a superscript formatting, so your mark would look like "m2" which I presume would not be satisfactory. Quote Share this post Link to post
Bram Vreugdenhil 0 Posted July 5, 2006 Actually I mean the label of the spaces that is visible in the drawing. For example the label says: Room 01 34 S.M. I want the S.M. to be changed into m? (or m2). So I changed the units. And looking down the object info palette while the space is selected I see the area is marked as 34 m?. So that's right. Only problem is I can't edit the label manually or give the area another unitmark. Quote Share this post Link to post
Robert Anderson 130 Posted July 5, 2006 This string is controlled by a resource file. You can change it (but be aware you will change it everywhere you would normally see "S.M.") If you are on a Mac, open a file called "IP Resources.rsrc" found in your Plug-ins folder. Open the STR# resource 11000. Look for the 9th string in the resource. Change it from " S.M." to " m2". Save and close. Quote Share this post Link to post
Bram Vreugdenhil 0 Posted July 7, 2006 Robert, and what if I'm using winXP? Quote Share this post Link to post
Robert Anderson 130 Posted July 7, 2006 Bram, you have to find a Vectorworks-using friend who's using a Mac (and the same version of VW) and have them modify a copy of their "IP Resources.rsrc" file. Then you can use the VW utility "Flattener" (available elsewhere on the VectorWorks site) to convert it to Windows. Also, enter a bug for this at bugsubmit@nemetschek.net and it can be fixed in a future version. Quote Share this post Link to post
gScott 0 Posted July 10, 2006 could a copy modified to "m?" please be put somewhere where xp users could download it? i have never seen S.M ever used to describe square metres... thanks gideon scott Quote Share this post Link to post
Pedro P. Palazzo 1 Posted April 27, 2007 I noticed this doesn't work for version 12 (S. M. is there all right in the IP resources but the Space object shows sq m instead). I looked for the sq m string in VW Locale, but changing it to m2 has no impact in the Space object. How to do it in version 12? Quote Share this post Link to post
Robert Anderson 130 Posted April 29, 2007 The latest version of the Space Object for VWA now reports areas in document units. This is the "public beta" version. Quote Share this post Link to post
