Ceiling fan adds roof when inserted

I am trying to add a ceiling fan on the interior of my room on the underside of the roof. When added it adds a dormer. How do I stop it from doing this?

As long as the symbol doesn't have 'Insert in Walls' enabled + you insert it using the Symbol Insertion Tool (rather than dragging it from the RM) it shouldn't insert in the Roof. Alternatively the failsafe option would be to place it on a different layer.
