User Folder AND/OR Resource Manager for GDTF Fixtures

ALHP

Question

Perhaps there is a way already, and I haven't learnt it yet, but in case this isn't a thing:

It would be nifty to have the ability to set a user folder where I can store GDTF fixture files and VW automatically directs to that folder location, instead of importing fixtures each time.

AND/OR

if the resource manager could link directly to the GDTF Share and you could download the fixtures directly from the resource manager.

You can place GDTF files in .../Plug-Ins/VW_Spotlight/Data/GDTF/... and they will show in the default list.

Link directly to the GDTF Share is on the wish list too.

@klinzey

I cannot get this to work with Workgroup or User folder.

I have placed .gdtf files inside these folders that are autogenerated when creating an workgroup folder or in the user folder location.

If i place the file in the workgroup path, it will also not show up.

If i place the file in the user folder-path, it will also not show up.

If i place the files in the application-path folder they show up immediately.

Am i doing something wrong, or is this not a possible way of doing it?

You are not doing anything wrong. We are likely only searching for files in the application folder as these are not native Vectorworks files.

Okay i see.
So can i add this as an future request?
I mean the folder structure is already there? It would be an nice feature.

Hi, did this ever get figured out? I dropped a bunch of GDTF files in this directory and they aren't showing up in the lighting device GDTF dropdown menu or GDTF browser window. Would love to keep a small (or large) library of commonly used GDTF files available across several different drawings.
