  1. Perhaps there is a way already, and I haven't learnt it yet, but in case this isn't a thing: It would be nifty to have the ability to set a user folder where I can store GDTF fixture files and VW automatically directs to that folder location, instead of importing fixtures each time. AND/OR if the resource manager could link directly to the GDTF Share and you could download the fixtures directly from the resource manager.
  2. In VW2024 Update 1 it seems like you cannot use Find and Modify to change the value of GDTF Fixture. Is this how it is intended to be or am i doing it wrong? I was hoping the value box would allow me to go through the list of imported GDTF fixtures that are in the document. Attached is a screen shot as an example.
  3. @bbudzonhave sent you a DM with the attchments you asked for. Let me know if there is anything else i can help with.
  4. Is it just me, or do others have the issue that Vision Licence has never been accessible via the customer portal/service select portal? Every year I have to contact the local distributor to send me my licence serial number for Vision. I still have the perpetual licence for both VW and Vision. Or is this just an Australia issue?
  5. If you would like a copy of the file I use, let me know. It could be something specific to this file.
  6. An update to this idea is after saving the file with render fixtures set to "off", exiting vision and then load back into the Vision file, I have to turn render fixtures back to "On" to have output of the LED. I can turn render back to "Off" once they are working.
  7. I have 'found' a work around for my texture applied to a fixture dream. Tested and seems to do what I wanted... As they are just a 3D polygon with LEDs attached to it. No pan or tilt attributes. I have exported and ESC file and then merged an MVR using GDTF fixture over the top. I have then turned render fixtures off within settings. I now have the colour and texture I wanted while still being able to see output from the fixtures.
  8. Interesting about reducing how far into the scene graph a person can go.... I sometimes feel that i can go unnecessarily deep into the objects. While i was mucking around with this topic, i realized i can alter the size and shape of the lighting fixtures. In theory, i hope i have drawn everything to scale within VW to begin with, so i kind of feel that there are allot of elements that I shouldn't ever need to alter. I feel it only need go as far as being able to select individual fixtures within the file and be able to alter the same level of information I would within the object info pallet or the lighting device properties. so as to make small adjustments easy without needing to export and import again. But that's my 2c if it helps
  9. @bbudzon Ah Ha! I've been doing it wrong for many a year now making my life unnecessarily hard haha I feel like remember this from way back when it was still ESP Vision with the USB to DMX dongle but my memory does get the better of me. I had only been going as far as entering colour into the "object info pallet" within vectorworks and of course that isn't "far enough" into doing whats required duh! As always, appreciate the quick support!
  10. Hi @bbudzon Thanks for responding, Genuinely appreciate it. I've gone back and realized where I went wrong. On the above file, I had navigated one step to far down the "Root Tree" and adjusted the Y Rotation of Tilt at the "MeshShape" if you alter it here, it does leave the beam behind. If you stop at the word Tilt like I have in the screen shot of the tree, everything is fine. Very handy to know for my "learning" 🙂
  11. I have been mucking around today with vision, and I tilted two ETC Source 4 26 degrees in vision. The fixtures imported pointing straight up, so navigated down to the tilt object in the scene graph, angled them, but it has left the beam emitter in the original location. I believe I am using the correct symbols and such in vectorworks. Not GDTF. Screen shot and both a vision and Vectorworks file attached, if anyone knows what might have gone wrong. 2 Lights Test.vsn 2 Lights Test.vwx
  12. Is it correct that in Vision 2023 SP1, the pan, tilt and colour information that is entered into the vectorworks file does not come across into Vision? I have not tested Gobo. I ask, because the below post and a few others regarding Vision 2020 suggest ESC still worked where as MVR does not. Send to vision is now an MVR file and I tried exporting an ESC with no success. Maybe I am doing it wrong?
  13. It would be AMAZING if you wouldn't mind raising it for consideration. I use Vision to do pixel mapping on a Christmas Tree every year and the tree branches (lighting fixtures) are Green with RGBW LEDs on them. I would love the ability to at least apply a solid colour to the fixture to make the Vision file look that bit more realistic for showing clients.
  14. Does anybody know if it is possible to apply a texture to a lighting fixture? I have a 3D polygon that has a texture within Vectorworks. I have then turned this into a Lighting Fixture using the GDTF builder. When importing into Vision, it drops the texture that is applied to the 3D polygon and just renders as black. Within settings, i have fixture render set to on as opposed to black.
  15. Can this become something to implement? MVR importing allows the ability for metric importing, so would be handy to continue that on. Also, I'm in Australia so therefore a big fan of Metric 🙂
  16. Does anyone else have an issue where, importing MVR with GDTF fixtures, that there is no patch information available in visions patch window? Using Vision 2023 SP1
  17. i only noticed this the other day.... Is there a way of changing it???
  18. Just wanting to post an idea for a feature request: Hoping there will soon be the ability to expand the emissive RGB objects within vision to be able to create RGBW, RGBA, RGBAW and then combinations of all this beyond even into the world of RGBAUV.... its would be a much quicker way of creating LED tape than using GDTF in my opinion, especially when you are dealing with all sorts of different lengths.
