Clip Cube Representation and Hardscape Section Components

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Situation: Below we have one simple Hardscape with 6 components and 2 columns/posts modeled as Solid Extrude.

Question 1: Clib Cube:

- How to change clib cube color? (from red to components, NOT red to black, BUT Red to Real Material or Components)

Question 2: Section Viewport and Solid Operation between Extude and Hardscape Objects

Thank you all in advance

You can't do this unfortunately. But I believe it is something people have requested. Plus there is this workaround (which I have never tried) if you're looking to achieve it in presentation material rather than live on the design layer:

I don't believe this is possible either - with Hardscapes at least. With Slabs you can clip components + subtract 3D objects but with Hardscapes you can't. You might need to clip a hole all the way through then place a different Hardscape in the hole which has the relevant components removed or reduced in thickness. Perhaps someone else knows another way. Or use a Slab of course.

If these columns/posts are repeating elements you could model the footing detail as well + save the whole assembly as a symbol then clip the Hardscape where the symbols are placed. Shared components between the symbol + the hardscape can be made to merge in section VPs. If you use Materials quantities will report correctly across both objects. If they are symbols you can achieve the Top/Plan representation you want as well.

Go to VectorWorks prefs and look in interactive appearance settings. You will find a preference that will change the plane colour of the clip cube.
