vlala
Hello, That's bench I designed. I don't want to see the messy lines in the corner on floor plan. How can I remove or control them? Edited February 11, 2023 by vlala Quote Link to comment
Tom W.
Convert the object into an Auto Hybrid or Hybrid Symbol. Either option will give the object a 2D component. At the moment it is 3D only so in Top/Plan view will appear wireframe not solid. Quote Link to comment
vlala
@Tom W. wow! That's what I've exactly looking for! Thank you. In general, is auto hybrid a function used for modelled structures or furniture? Cannot find Hybrid Symbol function, just used Auto Hybrid.. really cool. Tom W.
A hybrid symbol is just a symbol which incorporates both 2D + 3D components. See: https://app-help.vectorworks.net/2023/eng/VW2023_Guide/Symbols/Concept_Vectorworks_symbols.htm https://app-help.vectorworks.net/2023/eng/VW2023_Guide/Symbols/Concept_ 2D_components_for_symbol_definitions_and_plug-in.htm?rhsearch=2D components&rhhlterm=2d components component A piece of furniture such as your example I would save as a hybrid symbol. See all the furniture symbols in the libraries. You will have more control over what you see in 2D plus it will be saved as a resource for future use. I only use auto hybrids as a quick way to give a simple one-off object a 2D representation. But if you have a complex structural object + are using horizontal sections it allows you a high degree of control over how it is depicted in plan depending on where the cut plane is. When creating 2D components for your symbols you should make use of the 'Generate 2D from 3D Component...' command (right-click in the component edit mode) + choose Hidden Line rendering to quickly generate 2D representations of your object.
