Automatic recalculation of Graphic Legends?

Does anyone know if it is possible to automatically re-calculate graphic legends? (to save the problem of people forgetting to highlight all the graphic legends on all the sheet layers in a project and hitting 'recalculate' before printing).

 

I'm thinking it would happen whenever one double clicked on the Sheet Layer.

I have an understanding that if you're publishing the sheets, everything gets 'updated' automatically, (don't quote me on this) as if they were viewports, I actually never tested this but has always been my understanding.
