neurain
I was curious while watching VectorWorks Vision video in the past, so I posted it on the forum. How do I switch between sets? I am so curious. Need help from people who know how. Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee jcogdell Posted August 29, 2022 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted August 29, 2022 In the example above the set and stage elements are being moved using DMX transforms, If I remember correctly each set layout and/or movable truss were grouped together under top level objects in the scene graph and then the top level object was assigned a DMX transform address so each group could be moved as a single object. DMX transforms can be used to move, rotate and scale objects inside of Vision to simulate stage animation or set changes. You could also do this with PosiStageNet if you want, which was recently added in 2022 sp3. 3 Quote Link to comment

Vectorworks, Inc Employee jcogdell Posted August 30, 2022 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted August 30, 2022 You set this up in the scene graph. The scene graph is formatted as a kinematic chain or parent child hierarchy, where each layer is the child of the layer above and the parent of the layer below in the graph. To set up a transform create a new top level or parent layer and then drag and drop the child layers that you want to be linked to it. Because these are childrn of the parent when the parent moves they will as well. once you have all the layers assigned select the top level parent layer and look in the properties for DMX Xform and open it up This is where you assign the DMX address and other parameters to the parent layer to control thetransform. The DMX mapping to set up your consol patch is in the Vision manualhttps://app-help.vectorworks.net/2022/Vision/2022_Vision/Vision/DMX_transforms.htm The Xform mode drop down defines whether the transform is DMX or posi stage net controlled Xform Delta X, Y and Z define the movement range, the current location of the objects in the layer defines their staring point. Also its important to note that the measurement is in inches Xform rotation parameters control the axis of rotation, indexed maximum angle and maximum speed Xform scale X, Y and Z define the maximum scale of the object being scaled with 1 being the default size If you are using posi stage net then the PSN xform section is used to set up the PSN related parameters 1 Quote Link to comment
