    OpenGL

I am finding that when in OpenGL the screen doesn't refresh properly and I either have to re-render or change to wireframe. Is anyone else finding OpenGL issues with 2011? Could it be a bug or is it me?!! (This also happens with saved views - I do have the render option ticked in the saved view dialogue box)
  2. I seem to be having trouble rotating the working plane around the z axis. I can set it easily enough and sometimes it will work but often after grabbing the blue dot and then clicking to set the rotation the working plane re-appears just as it was. Does anyone have any tips on this?
  3. I often find while when gragging something in screen plane mode that the layer plane has become active and the object (3D) has moved off the screen plane which results in undoing, rechecking the screen plane mode and trying again. I can't work out whether the plane selection is tool dependant or not. I wish the plane I have selected would stay selected until I tell it otherwise.
  4. IGES files seem to be pretty reliable
  5. I just came across the samething, OpenGL does seem to have something to do with. When returning to a saved view I have to re render in OpenGL as it wont do it automatically. (I have all the settings ticked in the saved view dialogue box)
  6. Thanks Mike, that does clarify things rather!!
  7. This was the thread http://techboard.vectorworks.net/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=145935&Searchpage=1&Main=29839&Words=biplap&Search=true#Post145935
  8. I know little of programming but I do know that other 3D modelling programs manage it, and even the ability to drag a handle to alter the fillet, so it must be possible. I thought that the new parasolid engine would allow more flexible, intuitive modelling, and yet I read recently that VW was reaching the limit as far as 3D was concerned. Can this be true? After all it was only changed in 2009.
  9. Can the 3D fillet tool be part of the history tree. Having to re-instate many different fillets after editing really slow up the workflow. I do try to do as many as possible at the beginning of modelling but even so it is a real pain and I often have to make a note of which fillet goes where.
  10. Can anyone shed any light on why part of the witness line is missing in this file in OpenGL.
  11. It would be really great if PIO's such as nuts and bolts could be placed on the working plane and not automatically align themsevles to the ground plane.
  12. Pat, thank you for that great script. I'm intrigued though. How would you go about finding what formulas to put in the database if not for your script. Is there a listing anywhere?
  13. Ah....got it! Thank you. I must say it's not that obvious.
  14. I have tried fomatting the cells and even changed the text colour but to no avail.
  15. I have tried to set up a simple worksheet on a new file in 2011. The info seems to load onto the worksheet but the type is not visible. Please see attached. I must be doing something really stupid so any help would be much appreciated.
  16. I was really hoping not to have to draw circles and arcs in a viewport in order to dimension the parts. I was also hoping that the (3D) dimensions would be associative in the viewport so I didn't have to re-dimension every change. I'll keep hoping for 2012 but maybe this is something that is not easy to do.....I am no programmer.
  17. That all sounds good for dimensioning an object overall and then picking out the details, but if I need to show 3 views (top, side and front) of a single part in a multi-part mechanism the design layer becomes very cluttered. Surely it must take extra time to specify the each working plane and then the corresponding dimensions rather than directly dimensioning the specified view in the viewport?
  18. When you have many many parts that need to be dimensioned and sent out to be machined it just isn't practical to dimension them all on the design layer. I was hoping that 3D dimensioning would be the complete package...ah well.
  19. Fair enough Jeffrey, I shall wait with anticipation...!!
  20. If I dimension on the design layer it would mean having and very cluttered drawing and having to constantly turn on and off the dimension class. There would also be some dimensions that I would want to show in one view and not in another which would mean more than one dimension class.
  21. I suppose the demise of MD might mean no implimentation of 3D constraints. (I am amused about being in a 3 year retirement plan though!!)
