Using VW2008 on pc. What would cause doors and windows to turn black when rendered, when I just change the texture on the wall? Would it have anything to do with changing the background color to black, working for awhile, then changing it back to default white? Also, when I change the texture on a certain wall, the door and/or window borders on the wall remain at the previous texture. I go to change a parameter to get that border updated, (seems to be the only way it will change!!) and that's when the door or window changes from being a white texture to a black texture.

"information" as in what? you're saying a layer cannot be deleted if it contains information? How do I get rid of the information? Do i have to select all objects in that layer and delete them before VW will let me delete that layer?

How would you have it any other way?

Yea, that worked, thanx cipesdesign. But really, are those extra steps necessary? I think if NNA is going to put a certain plug-in object or symbol (fireplace) into the software, why not make sure that all bases are covered!? Does anybody there have any architectural design and/or drafting experience? Doesn't seem so.

I have Design Layers in my document that I originally imported from ACAD and now I no longer need them in the document. Let's say I delete them. Then I want to purge the unwanted classes that came in with just those layers. Will VW purge those empty classes if I execute that command? If so, is there a way to get rid of them and still keep the empty classes I have set up for my document?

This may be a stupid question, but I am not sure how to get a double-sided fireplace to show correctly in 3D. I can insert the fp into only one wall, but I need it to be inserted into two walls. When you do a walk-through the building, the fp is shown on one side only, but not on the other side.

Robert, what do you mean "reset" the cabinets?

I am trying to create a stair going up clockwise and can't find any help on "VW Help". Why isn't more detail explained on help? And please someone explain to me how to make the stair go up clocwise. I am creating a straight, then a U platform, then another straight. I've tried removing and adding different combinations of the platform and straights, but everytime it's always going up counter-clockwise.

That's what I'm saying. I found bugs in 12.5.2 that are still in VW 2008! I thought '08 was totally revamped, but I guess it takes years to get All the bugs out.

Yes I imported a the site drawings from ACad to create the site model. I suppose they had different line styles with them, but why would those create a problem on what I already had? From the looks at this posting, I think NNA needs to totally wipe out the stair tool, and start it again from scratch. Revamping it will only cause other problems!

Does anyone know why the dashed risers on a stair in Top/Plan view would look different than it's supposed too? The line is solid about 2/3rds across the stair, then it starts to dash. I tried creating another stair in a new document, and the risers looked fine. But when I created a new stair in the problem document, the risers were still having the issue. Any help would be appreciated. VW 2008 w/Architect & Renderworks Windows XP SP2 on PC

cbaarch, it's not the fact that I can't deal with submitting bugs, I just don't have time. I'll leave the bug submitting to the guys who sit around on their butts all day. Just kidding...that's all I do. You're right, we are just beta testers. This is my first at using a brand new version of any software. Thanks for the input! Is there an easy way to check if a certain bug has already been submitted??

Does anyone know how to copy (duplicate in VW) with a basepoint like you can in AutoCad??

Yes the Use at Creation check box is checked on both classes, and I am still having the problem. How do I go about making sure that both colors print at the same lineweight, if I can't resolve the problem?

1. How can you get VW 2008 to show all of the font names under the text>font window? I have a Dell Wide Screen Monitor, and the window that shows the font seems to be too big for the screen. 2. How do you go about using font in VW 2008 that is on your computer, but not in the text>font window?

Sorry...new to this forum, not sure how it works yet...here is my question: I assigned the Door ID to class Door Spec, and Window ID to the Window Spec class, with both of the classes colors set to green. The window IDs are correct color, but Door IDs are still the color of the Door Main class.

Does anyone know how to fix this? I checked the Attributes palette, everything is set to class properties.

My sales rep at NNA said SP2 is coming sometime in December.
