  1. Thanks Peter! Did not think of that. Was think along the lines of creating the same walls for each of the wall types. Classes would be easier! Looking forward to Version 2011. Still using Version 2008
  2. What is the easiest/best way to have these different type walls. Create from scratch with different colors or or draw and change on the fly. I do residential remodeling and have the need to show/draw these different walls. Showing them on the plans is great advantage as one can tell visually which is which by color. taoist
  3. Does anyone have an insulation hatch or pattern than can be used for wall cavity fill?
  4. Is it possible to use Vectorscript to calculate building materials? If so, how do you go about it. taoist
  5. Ray, Thanks that worked. I found what i was looking for. taoist
  6. rying to find in the forums Peter Anthony's rendered elevations he posted. They were in color of some stately homes. Anyone know where they are located? Would like them so I can practice on mine to look like his. Would be great if he would do step by step of how he achieves the look he gets. taoist
  7. I am a newbie at this type of thing. Using VW 2008. How do you draw trim (casings)for doors, windows, crown, etc. As far as I have been able to figure out, create a profile of what you want to use/show. Are there any predefined somewhere? Then use extrude along path. Have not been able to figure this out though. Can anyone give me step by step or is there video or how to do this? taoist
  8. Would be great if you would show (video) how to create custom or different mouldings for interior and exterior trim for doors, windows, baseboard, crown, chair rail and such. We get alot of requests from our clients when showing 3D models
  9. How many other items are assigned to the "Other" tab. Can one over ride this? I am using VW 2008 SP3. taoist
  10. I was using a standing seam metal roof hatch today and noticed (don't know why I did not before) that when I applied the hatch to (2) different roof planes (2D) one 90 degrees to the other. That is tying in a breezeway roof (Gable intersect)to a shed roof, the standing seam spacing on the shed roof is wider than the breezeway roof. Does it have to do with fill area for the hatch? How do you keep them (the seam spacing) the same distance? Hope this makes sense. taoist
  11. Thanks for all the info! Our interest is in the design of cabinets. Am I correct that I can create cabinets in InteriorCad and save as a symbol/object for later use so one does not have to create from scratch every time? In other words, one can create libraries of cabinet styles to "pull" from for future use. taoist
  12. Is InteriorCad available without VectorWorks. From what I see on the site it seems to be integrated, that is VW & IC together in one package. taoist
  13. Downloaded a Demo of InteriorCad for VW 2008. Can't seem to find where it gives one the ability to draw/utilize mouldings for the cabinets namely crown, light rails. Have printed the manual (97 pages) and find no reference. Can anyone shed any light on this? taoist
  14. Thanks for the reply. I am talking about the default cabinets in VW 2008. Is it possible to "class" the different components. The options (if you will) that I find are for Styles fot the cabinet, door, kick and counter when you select the button for show detail at the bottom of the cabinet menu. Are not Styles universal? That is Style-1 applies/utilizes to any object that has that option whether it be a door, window, or what have you. We do alot of kitchens and baths and need more "control" over cabinets. Sink cutouts is anoter area that needs work. InteriorCad is cheaper than 20/20. taoist
  15. I must be missing something here. When I apply a texture to the cabinet, it does the whole cabinet, doors, drawers included. How do you change/rotate the texture for the panel, seperate from the frame seperate from the cabinet box? Is it possible? taoist
  16. I am a newbie using VW 2008 SP3. How do you rotate textures? Some of the textures do not map correctly. Horizontal vs vertical. Can they be scaled, that is to fit the surface, or arewe limited to the repeating pattern. Are the repeating patterns adjustable, say for tile where you adjust the pattern size to make it fit the tile size you are using. Hope this makes sense. taoist
  17. How do use, (dxf or dwg) or create your own (extrude along path?) different types of trim for doors and windows besides the default flat tim. We use extrude along path for crown mouldings and such. VW has great 3D ability but needs to be simpler in execution of trim options. We use 3D a lot at work and we are looking for ways to have our presentations look like what the client wants. In settings>view one can control the Style selections, but that is for textures or colors not lets say beaded or adams casing. I hope this all makes sense. taoist
  18. Sharing some info being a newbie. Most of you probably know this already. When using extrude along path I have discovered that you must offset the path 1/2 the thickness of the object. I did a test of using a crown moulding at the top for cabinets. Offset the "extrude path" 1/2 the thickness of the crown moulding away from the face of the cabinets, set heigth for the extrude and Voila! I added a vertex to have the crown moulding return back to the cabinet face and it worked perfectly as well. taoist
  19. Great Elevations! Is there any way you could list the steps as to how you do this? Is there anybody that can help those of us who have yet to figure out all the "tricks" if you will. That is extrude along path tool. Hip returns for your roofs. I am still learning VW and am trying to get a quick grasp as to how to utilize it's power if you will. taoist
  20. I will try that and let you kow what I find. I appreciate you response. I am learning to utilize tools if you will that I never new were there. Is there a simple process to this or one has to edit after creation? taoist
  21. Yes! Or for section viewports. I seem to recall someone quite awhile ago using rendered and hidden line to achieve somewhat close to that look. Is there a work around or do I have to draw elevations in 2D from scratch? taoist
  22. How do you apply hatches in design layer on a 3D wall even when you change to front or what have you views, it is still 3D is it not? Is it possible to use textures and have them print out in black and white if you will? taoist
  23. How do you control the vertical distance and plcement offset from and object say a cabinet? taoist
  24. Is it possible to apply hatches in viewports. Would like to use for permit drawings. taoist
