  1. Is there any way to make the display of the chars in the tool bar and pallets bigger??? I recently switched from a Window to a Mac and the chars are too small. The drawings are fine.
  2. Is it possible to use GPS co-ordinates in Vectorworks for positioning in Spotlight??
  3. Great, thanks so much. Happen to have the instruments in 3D to share as well - or I shall drawing.
  4. Is there any plan for Vectorworks to support ChromeOS
  5. Any one got suggestion to how the label legend for cyc light with four windows, i.e. two bottom and two top be defined
  6. Need someone to hold my hand. The link you gave me asks for Service Select Account, when I typed in serial numbers and so on to create one, got no reply.
  7. Anyone got any GLP, German Light Products, symbols to share?? From GLP web, it should be with SP2 update package, somehow it is missing in mine.
  8. I got mine from the following link and I searched on the Gobo Texture library using "2137" http://www.norcostco.com/star-field-apollo-gobo-2137.aspx
  9. I am using Vectorworks 2015 SP1 (Build 237820) Window 7
  10. I do not know anything about font, TrueType or Unicode!! I do have difficulty in input Chinese Chars using the PenPower graphic pad and typing the keyboard using usual Window keyboard.
  11. I am using VW2015 - English version. Wrong gobo is projected and my method is, *** Start with a blank drawing with Spotlight as template. A box is drawn with “rectangle” and “extrude” A “focus point” "A" is draw on the box at 10’ high An ETC 10 degree is draw 20’ away and height at 10’ and focuses at "A" Draw beam is activated. Gobo template Apollo 2137 is imported from the VW2015 library. In the OIP if the light instrument, the gobo is chosen at the edit menu. At left isometric view, Final Quality Renderworks is chosen. The gobo projected is NOT what it is suppose to be.
  12. Both the Chinese and English VW are VW2014 SP2. According to VW techs it is as design, i.e. VW designs the files to have more than one "none" classes.
  13. I still have two none classes with Chinese VW2014 - one in English and one in Chinese.
  14. On watching the Webiner video again, found that non-lighting devices work by, Spotlight > Create Report > List all: Symbols My/your next task is to find out how to export/cut/paste onto Excel/Word as the report is likely to be changed by ASM?s at two sides of the stage during rehearsals. And this demanding user is asking if it is possible to display Viewports on the reports when the locations on/off stage can be shown?? Please share your experience in the area.
  15. From the Webinter on January 23, reports can now be displayed with lighting instrument images. Is it possible for the reports to include images of set/prop/drapery pieces as well? I tried making the non-lighting pieces into symbols, but not able to make it work. Documents such as the Elements Chart ? set/prop/rigging pieces for each act and each scene would be useful, especially with images, for stage managers and the crew. Any one tried??
  16. Tool(s) to help to generate schedules for stage managers, such as 1. Elements Chart ? Props, set pieces needed for a scene. 2. Shift Plots ? props, set pieces, flys need to be shifted for scene. 3. Setting plot ? where set, prop are placed when they are on/off stage
  17. Thanks. What about the issue with numerous (I mean numerous) empty classes generated for no reason. Some of the names are in both Chinese and English.
  18. For a file with three ?none? classes, two in Chinese and one in English, the response from Vectorworks Chinese tech support is, the first " none " in Chinese was generated when the file was created with CHINESE VW, the second "None" in English was the generated when the file was opened/worked on using the ENGLISH VW, The tech support did not go on to the third one. Along with his explanation, I, reasonably assume the class ?none? is generated because the file was subsequently opened in Chinese, i.e. the class ?none? is generated continuously whenever a different languages is used?? Assure you, the tech support there is serious?. You guy appreciate why I come to you for help rather the native language support in the VW package I am using.
  19. I am please to be able to share experiences with someone using VW in languages other than English. To start, I have never tried opening files using Chinese VW2009 as the Chinese version was never around till 2012!! I am using ChineseVW2013. Chinese VW tends to generate classes using both languages, i.e. the name of class is in two languages and/or the class appears twice, once in English and once in Chinese!! - more common in imported DWG files. VW distributor in China said the package can only read one particular font of Chinese characters (宋体font)? not sure if it may be problem in Japanese, i.e. merely changing the text may not help. Sorry that I cannot give much help.
  20. Thanks for the detailed explanation. It makes sense now!!
  21. Thanks for quick response. I tried the method that you suggested, at Spotlight Preference, I set my light device class to be ?window?. After inserted an ETC lighting device, the OIP showed that the device was in ?window? class. Great! Though, once again classes ?Clamp? and ?None? were generated. To test, for both layer and class options I picked ?Show/Snap/Modify Others?. In the Navigation Pallet I manually toggled the visibility for ?None? and ?Window?. For the lighting device to be able to be seen, both ?none? and ?window? had to be on, i.e. by setting either one of them to be invisible the device will disappear. Does it mean that the lighting device belong to both classes??
  22. Can you expand the ?auto class lighting instrument? feature? I cannot find anything on the topic. I am using the default template when creating lighting files ? ?Spotlight (Metric).sta?. Is there any way to merge classes together, thinking of merging all the mysterious ones that the file can be cleaner.
  23. Thanks. I got the idea from the VW tech forum, disable "enable auto classing" http://techboard.vectorworks.net/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=190129#Post190129 That is such an option in VW architect, is there something similar in Spotlight??
  24. I am using Chinese VW2013. Mysterious classes are often automatically introduced, any way to control them? Comical ones include a class named ?Window? was introduced before I even put anything into the drawing, i.e. a completely blank document. And when I plug in lighting instrument, classes with English names are introduced - ?Clamp? and ?None? are there twice, once in English and once in Chinese. The symbol only responds to English classes. In the case of imported files from DWG, it can be in the order of hundred.
