Just re-read your comment... have you used the sculpting tools in Vectorworks? What is it that you don't find easy about them?

You can create terrain by drawing a polygon and running the Site Model from Boundary command. Once created, you can edit the 3D surface of the terrain, and use the sculpting tools to create swales, berms, raise and lower points, edges and triangles. You can push and pull an area with a set radius and falloff value. 

All of these changes will update the 2D also, and maintain track of the cut and fill.

 

And then Livesync to Lumion...

Vectorworks 2020 imports Sketchup files up to version 2019. In Sketchup, save the file as a 2019 file and it will import into Vectorworks.

Correct - switching to the Fundamentals workspace when you have an Architect licence will still give you access to Architect functionality - it is the serial number that determines this, not the functionality. I can assure you that this functionality has not been removed from Fundamentals.

Rotate Plan is Design Series functionality and has never been available in Vectorworks Fundamentals. Here is the article in Vectorworks Help that describes the functionality. The D beside the heading denotes this as a Design Series (Designer, Architect, Landmark or Spotlight) capability.

If you now have Vectorworks Fundamentals only, but can see the tool, it may be that you have migrated your user folder and workspaces from an earlier version, but the tool will not work in Fundamentals. I'm afraid it has never been part of the Fundamentals package.

[Existing trees not sending to site model surface]

I am unable to reproduce this - my Existing Trees pop straight to the surface of my site model (and I have not experienced a problem with this in the past either). I don't have to use Send to Surface.

Edit the tag properties of the Existing Tree and make sure the tags are assigned to a separate class from the Existing Tree itself. Then make that class invisible.

If you don't specifically need the GIS stuff, this should be fine. Just make sure that you have the same user coordinates over the internal origin, across all the project files.

Yes - in 2020, the template files are georeferenced by default. In a Georeferenced file, the Easting and Northing reports the coordinates from the geographic coordinate system, rather than the equirectangular X and Y cartesian coordinates. But, there are two options you can take to resolve this:

 

1. Retain the georeferencing (in UK files, the default is EPSG 27700 - British National Grid), and align the User Coordinate System: Tools > Origin > User Origin - and choose the option Set User Origin to Match the Georeferencing Coordinate System.
   OR
2. If you don't want the georeferencing at all, choose File > Document Settings > Georeferencing, and uncheck the first checkbox.

In 2020, the Easting and Northing values are reported from whichever GIS coordinate system is active in the file (new in 2020).
But it's easy to resolve. If you are not using GIS, go to File > Document Settings > Georeferencing and uncheck the very first option at the top of the dialogue. The Stake will now display Easting and Northing the same as X and Y.

Forgive me if I have misunderstood the question, but would Model > Volumetric Properties help? This command gives you the option to include a 3D Locus at the centre of the geometry as well as providing other information such as surface area and volume.

Absorption distance is the setting that gives darker effects on glass when it's viewed from different angles. Have a look at that setting. If you change it to zero you may be able to remove the effect you're seeing on the fillets.

Genius @Pat Stanford! Thanks for resolving this. I had a go at it, and got as far as reporting on all the fields available in the Wide Flange record, but didn't explore the idea of the Custom Size to get the data into the relevant fields. Thanks so much for your help.

Caitlin, is the polygon closed? If so, try drawing it as a polyline and have it not quite closed. Then convert it. Does that make a difference?
