  1. And that's a weird pity. I was first twigged on to HVAC design, BIM and IPDD through an online webinar... sponsored by VW. And then I go looking and the tools suck? Ahem, VW!!
  2. I see that VW in MEP tool has an HVAC splitter. I don't see a way of making it round. Guidance from wiser folks, or resources to access please. Thanks! Kevin.
  3. And now... I try importing a piece of Knoll furniture from the resource browser, and it places, but then I cannot select it or move it... ??? kdb
  4. Arrrgh! It's happening again, with "Sills" class selected, in 2D Top/Plan View. Switching to 3D Top view shows them open, but I want to submit drawings in 2D Top/Plan view, of course... I really don't like such a simple thing going awry... what a pain! Cheers, kdb
  5. Hey In "Door Settings" click on "Parts" and then on the pull down menu, choose "Trim" and select "Include Exterior Trim" Should be fine... Cheers, KDB
  6. Peter, In Top/Plan view... Pat, Thanks, that seems to have solved it! Never knew! Weird... Thanks the both of you!
  7. Done. Still doesn't work! Flashes on and then disappears again. Argh! What a simple thing to be hung up on.... Errrrrrr...
  8. Hey folks, I can't get my doors to display as open in 2D. When I click on the box for "3D Open" it flashes on the screen for a second or so and then disappears... Hard to get my clients to visualize "door" without the leaf... Thanks.
  9. Try to get grids to print or save as PDF Good Luck! How?????
  10. Thanks Peter! But I think I am confused. Repetitive unit is only a 2D drafting aid? I was hoping to use it to quickly add 3D detailing to my model, but it does not do this, eh? Kevin.
  11. Maybe a too obvious question, but hey, as a new user, I gotta right not to know... Trying to create deck details with Repetitive Unit command, but can't get the detail to be horizontal. Odd, select the command, and the view changes to plan. So I can get funky 2X6 decking for a siding, but not as a deck... Any clues, obvious or not? Kevin.
  12. That's the biggest problem convincing Canadians to do anything about global warming: they all privately think, "Bring it on!" But that's a discussion for another forum... What I would like to do is port information from VW on cubic feet of built space/window glazed area/R and U values to a database that would provide me real time forecasting of passive solar effectiveness in design, allowing me to show clients the impact of their choices, of, say, a bigger window on the north side... Let you know how that goes... Kevin.
  13. Curious, tho', how the information may change with global warming... ; ) Kevin.
  14. Another look at the Canadian and American data, which use the same zone standard, and what do you know, the Vectorworks info actually makes sense. Thanks for the backup info for my search: turns out that the American map is good for about 200 miles or so north of the 49th parallel. If you are curious, check out the Canadian map - nicely detailed, with clickable locations, and other info, but unfortunately stops at the US border: http://nlwis-snite1.agr.gc.ca/plant00/ Thanks!
