It would be nice to be able to see the effects of a lighting plan on a room. Perhaps include light options (source and intensity) to the symbols.

Peter: I tried this but could not use the polygon tool with stacked layers, which I need to see the whole building. Realizing it is quick and dirty, do you just wing it, or am I missing simething? I have a stair with walls around the landings, so do not want railings there. Is there a way to remove them from the landing area? Thanks.

Not a bad idea. How about if I have a hybrid wall, say block to 30" then framing to ceiling? I would think it would cut both walls on insertion, although I understand the program's assignment of an object to a wall.

I tried that with a texture Katie had sent me, but it applied it to the whole window, not letting me isolate the glass. Unless I did it wrong...

I have a side door on a landing between the basement and first floor. How can I get it to show on both plans? I have raised it (3D move) to the landing height, and it shows on flyover. Thanks!

Peter's answer is most helpful, but what if we want to change the glazing, ie to make a screen or lattice appearance? Change the window class texture then restore the jambs with the Special Classes procedure? It would be nice to have glazing in the special classes options list....

When creating multiple unit custom windows, it would be helpful to be able to vary the head or sill heights, for instance, where windows follow the stairs. The user guide instructions seem to imply this, but it won't work. Thanks!

Bummer. Is there a way to do a global text change to all windows or doors in a project? They were put in in a variety of sizes and fonts by those less aware (me as a newbie).

I would like to do a trio of windows, with a commmon head but different sills (like along a stairway)but the custom PIO system wont let me vary the heights of each unit. Am I missing something, or do I have to install separate windows for this effect? Thanks!

I know! We can spend hours and hours re-typing pages of existing spec notes into little text boxes. Where's my free intern... Back to using the separate spec book, I quess.

So how can you move a door or window in a wall accurately (not just click and drag) without moving the whole wall? IE, grabbing a door and doing ctl-m moves teh wall also. Thanks.

YES! It would seem a natural thing to allow.

Absolutely! The dormer tools should develop roof and wall forms and then the ability to use whatever variety of window PIO's you want rather than a single centered window. Not every dormer is a doghouse. Big wish!

I would support Christiaan's wish, although since Word and Excel are so widely used, would appreciate linking to them to. Maybe there is a way to "viewport" to whatever word or spreadsheet program people like to use.

Thanks for all your replies, and as an english major, I should remember about loses/looses, allthough in this case the formatting is cut loose...bad pun. I think I will move it to the wish column. Years ago, we used Cadvance (pre-ACAD v14) which had interactive capabilities with Word and Excel, i.e. the text or spreadsheets were linked to live Word/Excel documents. That is what would be nice, especially since many specs are already written, or come from other sources and takes a lot of time to type them into VW. Thanks again.

I am importing specs written in Word into Text boxes, but it looses the formating. Is it possible to import it as a linked object so changes to the original Word file are reflected? Or just keep the original formatting?
