  1. I'm experiencing the same problem as you Bruce. My Safari is up to date - in fact everything is up to date - couldn't be more. The question is if it's primarily a NNA or Apple problem? I would guess it's NNA. There should be a way to choose your default browser when using VW help.
  2. Felt so stupid again...I tried and tried using these Fn/# keys - nothing happened. To me Fn/# are F1, F2 etc. I was about to give up when I by accident touched the numeric key pad...there it was A great function, but I still miss a view label somewhere on the screen. How do I know which view I'm in? Something like "Active view: right isometric" would help ....a view palette... [ 02-24-2006, 01:34 PM: Message edited by: bonus ]
  3. Every new release has bugs - it's well known and nothing unique about VW. Is there somewhere these bugs get listed as soon as they are detected by anyone and eventually confirmed by NNA? Knowing there is a bug at least saves users valuable time instead of trying to figure out what they are doing wrong.
  4. JAZZ ARCH, I believe you experience the same problem as I did. I opened a file made in VW11 in VW12 and all windows had changed. "Update plug-in objects" does not help. Somewhere I read this was a bug and in 12.0.1 this bug should be fixed, but - no! I just tried it again and the problem remains. Also - In 12.0.1 objects like rectangles have got their centrepoint handles back - but I tried the function in a template file made in 12.0 - no success - no handle. But in a new fresh file in 12.0.1 it works. So I guess we'd better go back to VW11 or make complete new start in 12 and keep your VW11 app to open old files.
  5. I deleted all hatches and gradients. Now it works again on 2D objects. Extruded objects or symbols are still uncatchable. I believe I have a back-up file at home. Need to check for that before digging to big a hole in this problem. Thank you for your help
  6. thank you mike I just made a quick try - but yes it looks right to me, this far. In top/plan it's original object visibilities are intact. In all 3D views it's in continious line - perfect! Question to NNA: Why is this not the default function of "extrude"?
  7. ok tahnk you I tried it and it works!
  8. I have a file that suddenly has become corrupt in the sense that objects cannot be snapped and the selection handles don't show anymore when approached with the cursor. The preferece settings are all ok - smart cursor cues and eight selection handles are checked, snap radius is at 5 pixels. I tried rebooting both my computer and VW- nothing helps. When copying an object from the file and pasting it into a new file it works fine again. So the file itself must be corrupt. Anyone has an idea how to fix the problem?
  9. As we are talking viewports... I have still not found the reason why the section markers created in top/plan in a design layer using >View>Create Section Viewport don't show in the Viewport created from the same design layer using(rectangle object used as crop)>View>Create Viewport. Everyting else shows, 2D and 3D. Just the markers aren't there. (Topic previously answered once by Katie/NAA - but no further replies.) To me there is still something disturbing with the viewports...
  10. Well, ..... I'm not sure anymore if there is a problem. This happened several times in a document I actually spent a few days working on. I tried to reproduce the problem on a copy of it, but without success. It's like going to the doctor - the pain is gone the moment you enter his door. But there is still something bothering, though only in this actual document: When going from Viewport in annotation mode(forgot leaving annotation mode) to a Saved View(bottom left) - moved an object in the drawing - then returned to the Viewport > View > Update all viewports, the Viewport was updated, but the cursor, the watch symbol and occasionally the mac spinning symbol started wrestling and fighting to be on my screen*. That is usually a sign that the saving operation is having problems. The result i ok though - so I don't understand what is or was happening. Last time the corrupted Viewport seamed to have been mixed-up with other viewports, showing parts of the drawing that should not be presented in this Viewport. Anyway, I'll get back if the problems arises again. * I mean switchin really fast, like 10-15 times per second - not the more controlled way once or twice. 11. oh great- I will have to check for that tomorrow thank you
  12. That would really be nice. Now I think we may be hoping for too much... Maybe it is as simple as this with the paper size: In OS X you create a pdf with "print" - there you get the option to set the "print format" (whatever it's called in english - I have a Swedish version). If you check there a new window opens with the page setup. There you will find "alternatives" on the right hand side. Click there and I believe you might change the default setting for the pdf option. It's not obvious in OS X, as one tends to move around in circles and get back to where you started without knowing how it all happened. good luck anyway.
  13. In MiniCad, maybe even in VW, there was this great tool "stamp". At some point it was changed to "ID-label" and , -well I'm sure it's more refined and useful in many ways, - but a little too complicated at times. I miss the simplicity of the "stamp" tool. Just clickin' around the drawing with the stamp to get labels with ascending numbers without the need to be attached to specific objects. Is there still something like it left somewhere? somewhere I have not digged deep enough? [ 01-26-2006, 12:01 PM: Message edited by: bonus ]
  14. Hi Andrew OK - now that's clear to me. - Still, some kind of global record would be useful. A wish for the future. But there must be a bug somwhere with the live sections or layer links or whatever.... When linked to another layer the section markers change style. Furthermore they disappear totally in a cropped viewport ( see my other topic answered by Katie - problem yet not resolved)
  15. in VW12: If you use live sections and edit/annotations - make sure you exit the "edit viewport annotation" before updating the viewports. Otherwise the viewport will be corrupt. Anyway that is what happened to me several times beeing to much in a hurry... Recreating the viewport is easy, but still not what was the idea.

    VW12 & HP 4MV

The same goes for me. No problems whatsoever. The 4MV runs and runs and seems to be pefectly happy with all upgradings, both VW12, macOS10.4 and macG5. Still the best printer despite three new (also 2 HP) other printers in our office. So, take good care of it.
  17. Which printer, what OS and which VW version do you use? First you need to download a printer driver from HP or Epson or any printer manufacturer, that has all the paper sizes you would need. Then you install the driver and add it to your printer list. There are different ways to do that depending on the OS version you have. Anyway, with this new driver you will be able to set to paper sizes others than those your own printer can manage. On the other hand the size of a pdf is not essential other than the resolution level that might be to low if printed in larger format. Now printing pdf-files is done as you describe and the problem with the nameing of each drawing is anoying. Now with VW12 there is a shortcut "export pdf", but that does not change a lot. Especially for us mac owners. We have our own shortcut in the print function "print as pdf". So what we still need is a printout feature that names every sheet or view automatically - and that is a simple thing to do if you're in the software business....so please NNA, get it done for 12.0.1!
  18. Where do I control all layer links in the file? Once some layers have been linked to one specific layer I can't find where to see which layers are liked to which. In case I want to unlink a layer - what do I do?
  19. hi Katie, Right, the sections were created in a design layer. Then I made a crop viewport of the plan. There the markers are missing. I now select the viewport and in the OIP the "project 2d objects" box is checked. Other 2d objects like text and dimensions from other linked layers appear nicely, but no section markers. I've tried to see if there is someting in the OIP of the markers themselves in the design layer that could be unchecked or wrong in setting , but I just can't find anyting. Your further help is appreciated. [ 01-26-2006, 05:04 AM: Message edited by: bonus ]
  20. I've asked for it before and I am truly dissapointed not finding it in VW12. Second to lines, rectangles are the most common objects to handle in VW. Therefore I wish NNA would be so kind to make these objects editable in oblique positions. The same way as a line. There you can switch between two different constraints, making it possible to edit length and rotation angle of the line. This must be easy to fix for rectangles too. I would like to see editable size of the rectangle itself (length (a) and hight (b)), rotation angle and if possible extensions in x or y with maintained either a or b - at wish.
  21. When I print with "batch print" on my printer it works - all checked viewports are printed one by one. I smile and whistle a tune... But I also want to make pdf files of these viewports - each one being one drawing. But then only one of the checked viewports is "printed". I figured each pdf would get the viewport name + .pdf, but no.... Is this a bug, a shortcoming in VW or just old stupid me?

  24. In VW12 I have made live sections and the markers show fine on the model plan, but in the viewport they disappear. I use the viewport for printing an need the markers to show in the viewport of the plan. What's wrong?
