  1. ... when I don't want them too. I have a door schedule in our target file that insists on recording two doors classed as demo in the ref file. Those doors do not have the "On Schedule" box checked. We have noticed this happening before, and in the past I have converted the offending door objects to groups. What am I doing wrong?
  2. I am not sure what you mean by "somewhere in the middle". What we have is a reference file- the model of the house with all the building information- that is being referenced to a target, sheet file. This sheet file is where we are creating a section viewport on a sheet layer, from the referenced model on a design layer. This target, sheet, file is where we see that slabs are being rendered fine, but not walls as noted above in the previous post.
  3. Yes- we did several tests last night on this, including creating a fresh project and the same thing happens. While the referenced plans show all the wall components and fills/hatches, the section viewports do not, at least with walls. We figure it has to be a bug...
  4. Well we are almost there. Thanks to Jeff Ouelette, we now have a better understanding of these, but we are still having some issue. Specifically, we cannot get the walls to show fills in section viewports on a sheet layer. The setting- I am pretty sure- are the same for both of these examples. The only difference is that the one that works is generated in a single model file. The one that is not working is a target sheet file referencing the model file. Any suggestions?
  5. Thank you all. I deleted that plug-in and the slabs now work fine.
  6. Here is what we see in the OIP with one of the "slabs" selected:
  7. Well, I tried changing the fill attributes on some walls and slabs, as Farookay suggested, but that does not change anything in the target section VP. I think at this point we are going to give up and over draw our sections for now. It is unfortunate as these tools seem like a good timesaver, but it just is not working for us now. We look forward to SP3 if that fixes some of this stuff. Thanks to those who made suggestions here...
  8. Yes, that box is checked. Here is the mess of a Sheet layer VP:
  9. Tamsin, Changing those settings worked- for only some items in the drawing. Not all our wall types are showing the components, and the slabs are just not working (see my other post). I am fearing the our model file might be corrupt as nothing I do seems to work properly, and some slab styles are really messed up...
  10. I have retitled this post because of continuing frustration with slabs, the slab tool, inability to edit slabs, and a complete failure to see slabs properly in a sheet section VP. I think we will give up and go back to overdrawing our sections in annotation mode. In conjunction with my previous post about section VP's, I note that certain slab types that I draw end up as donut shapes. For example, the slab on the left was drawn using a simple slab on grade style, and looks correct. The one on the right was drawn using the VW standard "Floor Assy-Wood 2x12" style, resulting in what looks like a footing. The middle are floors. The same thing occurs when drawing unstyled slabs. Another observation: If I draw a slab using a style that is 4" thick, and try to change the style to a thick type, inn 3D it does not change the thickness. I also notice that contrary to the VW help section on applying slab style, my OIP does not indicate the slab style when I select a slab. In our section viewport the floor slabs are styled as 12" thick wood but appear as 4" or 8" concrete. I tried playing with slabs in a fresh VW file and the same things occur. They look like the finish floor surface is pulled away from the edge, but will not render proper. Finally, I tried to edit a slab following the VW Help instructions using the 2D Reshape Tool. The slabs do not indicate any handles, no matter what edit mode I am in, and therefore will not edit. Are we really messed up here? Any suggestions? Anyone think this is a bug?
  11. It has not, and I cannot figure it out intuitively at least. One thing we notice is the the sheet layer is a VP that references a design layer VP that references another DL VP that has the sections though the model. I have all the required classes on, I think, and the VP advanced properties are set as I noted. No matter what I do, the result is the same. We would like to get these things working, but since this is a pro bono project, we might need to end up drawing over the VP with annotations to get it to look right. I will note the that floors are floors on the model, but the foundation is a slab with a gravel hatch fill. I just can't get it working.
  12. I have played with all the tab settings under Advanced Properties, with no luck. Here is a snap of the Attributes:
  13. We have begun using section viewports for a small house project but note that we cannot see any fills for walls, slabs or roofs. Everything appears as clear lines. What are we doing wrong. Here is the viewport on the design layer, and a snap of the advanced settings dialog box:
  14. Thank you, Wes, that was helpful. The solid fill is still a bit odd to me, but it does work. I have to opening the setting box and hit OK for me to see the color fill...
  15. Uh- it seems so complicated. I have been trying to use the space tool with frustrating results. I have watched the video about it and this is what I am running into. I see that the spaces use a symbol for the graphics? got that and can change the fonts easily. Why can't I see the solid fill/color when I have it set to a colored fill in the palette? The boundary is set to off, but the spaces will not show a solid fill. How can you show the area of a space on the label? It was so simple in 2009/2010. Any tips would be appreciated.
  16. It seems to work better if I simply waiting until the Printmonitor quits, and then save. So far no issues with that approach.
  17. Has anyone experienced this? We have a new Canon plotter and use the imagePROGRAF Printmonitor V 2.12 software for it. What happens is that after sending a plot via VW 2009, usually the save command will not work- warning box comes up saying 'The file save operation failed.' Continuous tries result in VW crashing. And the file(s) we had open require a change in permissions to re-open. Any suggestions? We have a small network of Macs using Snow Leopard 10.6.4.
  18. We only use two fonts, Futura Std. and Helvetica, and we have not had any issues with them in any other file. DO you need to re-format the worksheets after import?
  19. Anyone have any more tips here? I am still having this odd bug. Sometimes I have to wait about 30 seconds for rows in a worksheet to be deleted after the command...
  20. Normally I notice that when editing callout objects after the work is complete the callout remain selected. I am experiencing, in only a few file, the opposite and am wondering if anyone can suggest a settings change. If I edit in any fashion a callout- move a leader arrow, change text, change the appearance of the callout- after the change the callout is deselected. Any suggestions?
  21. I had a moment there, unable to find these buttons. Here is a file with one of the troublesome worksheets:
  22. Clearly, the file or worksheets in that VW 2008 file are buggy. I copied the worksheets from the old file, after opening it in 2009, and pasted them in a new blank 2009 file. That is when we noticed the editing issues. I went back to the old source file, and tried editing them there, via 2009. Same issues. I created a new worksheet in that old file, and notice that the more text/rows there are, the slower it gets. I also copied the data only from some of the old worksheets, and pasted it into new worksheets in a new, blank, 2009 file. While that worked the best, it was still sluggish. To scroll/select data from the long worksheets took forever. It is also time consuming to reformat. Can you remind me the best way to post a VW file?
  23. Pat- What I did was pasted worksheets from a VW file that was created in VW 2008, and pasted them in a new VW 2009 file. Once there, the editing process began to break down, especially when we tried to delete rows, or change text. These worksheets are not linked to ant data, they are simply text that we use for code review. It can take almost a full minute for the delete rows command to complete. Stan- Nice to hear from you. As I mentioned, these are not 'hot' worksheets, but static text items. We have the same problems when I save the VW 2008 file and try to edit the worksheets there. We have never experienced this type of issue with worksheets before. We will evaluate the need to upgrade to VW 2010 after the AIA convention next month. But for now, we are cautious with our software funds.
  24. Sorry- I posted to the wrong question.
