  1. We have just worked out what the problem was. For some reason the colour palette in the active document had hundreds of varying shades of green (where they came from I have no idea). So I purged unused colours which seems to have worked.
  2. I have been working on a drawing for some time with no problem. The attributes panel has just stopped working. If I choose any colour from the colour palette it does not appear in the attributes window which appears blank. If I select class style and class colour the colour does not show in the attributes panel but does appear if I draw something. If I then try and change the colour of an object it changes to black. It only happens in this drawing. Could it be corrupt? How can I fix it? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
  3. Does anyone know if there is a British Standard Colour Palette that can be imported into Vectorworks.
  4. Every time I set the default sketch setting and create a new template. When I open the template to start drawing the sketch always returns to ROUGH. I have set the sketch setting I require as default in the resource browser and under View>Rendering>Sketch Options. and saved as template. But each time I open a the new template it reverts to ROUGH. It's driving me mad. If anyone has the solution I would be grateful.
  5. I have created a VW template that has resources that are in continuous use by a number of people. I would like to set a SKETCH style setting that we prefer to be the default. Whenever I open up the template it has rest the default to ROUGH. Is it possible to reset the default perhaps to our preferred sketch style or even to no sketch as the default. I suppose I could just change the setting for the ROUGH default to what we prefer. What I don't understand is why it keeps defaulting back to what it was.
  6. The iPad will be a hit I think. The price is almost the same as the B/W Kindle. And then there are all the Apps that can run on it. Amazon sells six digital copies on the e-reader for every 10 physical copies so I think Apple will have done their research.
  7. I forgot about the Stipple tool, it will do what I want. If I ungroup the objects and do add surface it will create a good representation of tree groups. Thanks for the tips. by the way, belated HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL
  8. When I used Macromedia Freehand in the dim and distant past, there was a tool for spraying circles of random sizes with control of max & min diameter and frequency of insertion. I would find this a useful tool for adding indicative vegetation cover to maps.
  9. Does anyone know of a way of inserting grid references on the outside or internal edge of a sheet layer viewport i.e. where grid lines intersect the viewport edge. I think this would be very useful to anyone using map bases.
  10. It took about 3 minutes to import the coordinates and about the same to create the Site Model. Which is great. Thanks again.
  11. That worked like a dream. A special thanks to you Petri. This is a great forum with very helpful contributors. Thank to you all.
  12. Thanks for all your efforts guy's. I will try it now. I have no doubt it will success. I will you know shortly. Cheers.
  13. You are right it is probably the fact that it is trying to create stake objects that is the problem. I don't think it would have a problem with say 650000 3D loci.
  14. I have just created a terrain model from OS DTM data which are 3D loci containing 220000 points in 1 minute. I want to create the 3D points from xyz data.
  15. This is how the data comes:- 372592.5,185037.5,93.66 372592.5,185032.5,93.681 372592.5,185027.5,93.698 372592.5,185022.5,93.695 372592.5,185017.5,93.69 372592.5,185012.5,93.685 372592.5,185007.5,93.68 372592.5,185002.5,93.675 372592.5,184997.5,93.669 372592.5,184992.5,93.664 372592.5,184987.5,93.659 372592.5,184982.5,93.639 372592.5,184977.5,93.616
  16. I am importing the data using Landmark > Import survey file. The data covers approx 1.5Km square and data is at 5m intervals. I normally get the data as dxf. but thought I would try the xyz data as it was a lot cheaper. The dxf data works well. It's just the conversion that is causing the problem.
  17. I have have downloaded some survey data from the Emap site which comes as an x,y,z text file. The file is 16Mb, so V large for a text file. There are approximately 650000 lines of data and I am having trouble importing it. I did a test on the first 1000 lines of data which took 15minutes to complete this import. Which means it will take over 6.5 days to import all that data if it works. Does anyone know why it takes so long. Vectorworks should be able to import thousands of pieces of data a second. Looking forward to any comments.
  18. Just select all lines and Modify > Cimbine into surface
  19. You could always rescale the hatches in each viewports using the Advanced properties > Hatch line scale.
  20. It would be great to have polygon tool that had the option of creating 1, 2 or 3 sketch outlines and a drop shadow. Similar to the rendering options available in the Landmark plant symbol(edit plant definition)
  21. I just spotted this on VECTORLAB which may do the job. "I wrote this procedure to process a layer of 2D polygons imported from a shapefile (.shp) . Each polygon had the polygon's elevation in an attached record. This procedure reads the elevation value to create a 3D polygon at the z height. This procedure could be made more useful; The procedure could ask for the record and field instead of constants. Also, the 3D polys are placed onto a new layer, but the 2D polys could be separated from the 3D polys more elegantly.
