  1. I am finding that VW is more stable on Tiger. I can usually get VW to crash on a specific symbol edit, but it has been pretty good so far. I still get the odd crash on closing VW ... so there is still an issue with that and 11.01.
  2. Problem solved ... wierd thing: I just bought a new machine, and I used the keyboard from the older G5, on the new one. Looks like the new G5 doesnt like the old keyboard, as since switched, all my problems listed above are gone...
  3. I should have clarified a bit. If I draw a simple 2D line, and I hold the Shift down, it gives me the angle in increments (30, 45, 90 deg). This doesnt work for me. Anyone else experiencing this?
  4. I have had a couple of issues, however It may be related to how I have my workspace set up: My Panning does not work, when I press down the space bar. The panning icon is quickly displayed, than snaps back to the 2D selection tool. When I want to duplicate an item, I used to hold down my Alt key, and I could rubber stamp things easily ... no more. When I go to the online help by pressing F1, I can view the subjects, but I cannot click on a topic to view. When I hold down my shift, I usually got my different degree rotation options, now it doesnt seem to work. Any ideas?? thanks
  5. Also, when I use my Alt button, I can usually rubber-stamp 2D objects ... no more.
  6. A couple things I have noticed as I have just started using Tiger now. When I use my spacebar to pan, it seems to switch back between pan, and 2D Selection tool. In other words, the Pan doesnt stay on. Maybe a setting I need to change? Also, when I press F1 to go into the online help, it shows me a list of topics, but I cannot seem to open a chapter. Any ideas?
  7. I just purchased Cinema 4D 9, and the Exchange plugin. I find it works quite well, and Cinema has some fantastic features.
  8. Good advice, Mike. I will take that and use it myself. Thanks
  9. Also ... check with your local Apple dealer. Chances are, if you are quick, they will have a prev generation dual 2.5 in stock with a faster front end bus for the same price as the new Dual 2.3 GHz. Althought the new ones have the dual layer superdrives. Eddie
  10. This might not help, Michael, but if you have VW 11.5, it is automatically lighted for you if VW does not detect any light objects. So you might be deleting the lighting object, and VW auto-lighting kicks in. Check out: http://www.nemetschek.net/vectorworks/new.html Automatic Lighting Automatic lighting in VectorWorks 11.5 means that your scenes are always perfectly lit. You no longer have to spend time inserting and tweaking your lights to render a scene.
  11. Sounds like good news indeed. It would be nice to get some users opinions once we upgrade.
  12. Anyone know the best way to do this? I know 'Shave and Haircut' can be used in Cinema 4d, but I want to create the texture in VW. I need to the grass to have thickness, not just a texture applied to a flat surface. Am I dreaming? Thanks
  13. Hi Nesika, Basically Renderworks is kind of like a 'Plugin' for Vectorworks that gives more advanced rendering capabilities. It is purchased with a seat of Vectorworks as an option. I believe it is only a few hundred dollars more, so it offers pretty good value. Renderworks right inside of Vectorworks, so there is no exporting/importing. It works quite nice, and it solves most of my rendering requirements from day to day. If you want to do very high-end rendering, Cinema 4D is the way to go. In order to go from Vectorworks to Cinema 4D, you need to purchase an additional plugin called VectorWorks Exchange for Cinema 4D. It is around $100 or so and works quite well. Hope this helps.
  14. Nesika41, may I suggest you consider an G5 iMac? Might be good balance between speed and visibity. Good price point as well. I think the mini is geared towards the iLife crowd, and may not be best cut out for CAD work.
  15. Thanks guys, I ended up getting it to go ... I split the profile into 2 parts right down the middle. Each 1/2 will extrude fine down the path. Then I added the 2 solids together creating the whole profile.
  16. Yes, the trim profile it does extrude, and I did extrude each section seperately. They all exrude fine, except when the complete path is combined. I tried piecing it together like you suggested. Then I tried to add solids and it refused because if 'illegal objects' or whatever. Thanks
  17. Just thought I'd let you all know. Available on the 29th. http://www.apple.com/
  18. I have a piece of 2D profile piece of trim I need to extrude along a path. The path is straight with a deep arch that drops in the middle. Each time VW crashes no matter what I do or if I convert the 2D profile to NURBS, polygons whatever. Its not an over complicated profile, I just think that during extrude, because of the arch drop, the profile 'backs into itself' causing a crash. Anyone have any ideas on what I can do without straighting the path?
  19. I dont know, Islandmon, but it seems as though you experience far more hard-core problems than any of us other users who have had issues, and have been interestingly watching your Death of Vectorworks thread. Yes, I have my share of issues in 11.5 as the reason I have reverted back to 11.1, howver it does seem very odd. I am wondering if you happen to have any hardware issues? Also, Cocktail 3.5? What does it do?
  20. Hi Matt, basically I use the first CD that came with my OS. I have a G5, so mine is my Software Install and Restore disc 1. I boot from the CD, and it begins to run the OS installation. When the option comes to select my language, I can go up to File menu (If I recall correctly), and then it allows me to open Disk Utility. From there you can do all your maintenance proceedures, like repairing disk permissions. I noticed that when I completed the repair permissions task this way, it seemed to come up with more red flags than if I used the Disk Utility while being fully booted up. Hope this helps.
  21. I could never have a big enough monitor myself. Worst thing you can do is 1 month from now say 'I should have got the bigger monitor'.
  22. Hello, any contractors out there that I could speak to? I would like to have some custom tools written, and I would like to see what can be done in script writing. Thank you
