  1. Here is a test file. It all works okay in a test file, just like an electrical problem with your car. When I opened the file today in the design layer all is right reading. I thought "wow, perfect" but then I went to a sheet layer and half of the door and window tags are all fouled up. Attached is a screen shot of the same door in design layer and sheet layer. I even changed the look and text in the tag. Alan, what angle are you speaking about? In the OIP I think the only angle setting controls the swing of the door. It is at 90, if I change to 0 it closes the door. In document settings should I check or uncheck "Adjust Flipped Text"?
  2. I tried that and it just flips in a different wrong orientation.
  3. I cannot get this door in this orientation and the door tag to be right reading. I have re-inserted, flipped, flipped, flipped…. Checked and unchecked the 'adjust flipped text'. What else do I try?
  4. michaelk thanks, i many time forget to pay attention to those modes.
  5. Perfect. Thanks and off he goes to the Mac store!
  6. I think that's the driver. Thanks Jim. And yes Peter I agree it is a nice little printer for the price. I'm not sure who to ask about my next maneuver: I have VW installed on a MacBook Pro and am thinking of purchasing an iMac Can I have VW on both machines? I do travel and work away from office. Not sure what the license agreement is.
  7. Anyone use the HP T120 printer/plotter with osx 10.10 Yosemite? HP says no driver available. I'd like to upgrade osx from Lion someday.
  8. That is a good suggestion. Would be real time saver.
  9. I tried nudging. The thing is that when in the design layer it looks correct, but I nudged it anyway a few times and then closed the viewport and back at the sheet layer it is still upside down or backwards. So I mirrored it (standard or 1st mode) and then all is good. a Callout object? It is a revision bubble from the dims/notes tool set. I may have accidentally 'command-j'. I know I turn on / off some of the snaps because my brain is still autocad tuned and I strike keys without thinking! But even so, I have not flipped one of the rev bubbles. I have copied them however. Tedious having to fix them. Thanks,
  10. I have a couple of 2d ( well this is another issue - I say 2d but they call themselves 3d symbols although there is nothing 3d about them that I know of) symbols that I created and gave a specific insertion point. Lets say it is the upper left corner of said symbol. In the create symbol window - radio button -insertion point - next mouse click selected. I click the upper left corner. I insert the symbol and the insertion point have moved to center of symbol or along an edge of symbol but to the center of some geometry. Not the point I selected. Any ideas what I've done wrong?
  11. This is a simple revision bubble used for quick keynote references. Rotated 0 degress. Not flipped. Any ideas why this happens?
  12. Thanks, that works. Now, in the case where I have multiple windows that are identical I gave them the same number. The schedule lists each separately. Can they be grouped and quantified? For fewer lines on the schedule, and ease for guys in field. Or should I change practice and give each a separate number?
  13. Okay got it. Now the schedule itself I see is not 'live'. I placed a few windows, then out of curiosity generated a schedule. It populated but new additions do not. How do you regenerate the schedule or should you wait until all doors and windows are placed then generate the respective schedules?
  14. 1st schedule in VW. Have a min. amount of information needed for the schedule. But what is the first line of schedule for and how to eliminate it as it is confusing. Oh, and is it possible to move the tags in plan view? To avoid lapping a partial open door.
  15. After looking in the window info palette it is more clear that those options apply to 3d. But, since I adding the tags now instead of at the beginning. I have to edit each one individually to get size, shape of bubble and text font and size. A lot of clicks. I thought the tags would be text formatted to my current settings but they are not. Are they generated using the current font at time of window placement? Is there place to format these tags universally? Lastly, if you have several same windows can they be all the same call out? "W-01" or should there be a different number or letter for each window?
  16. Didn't think I was going to use the ID tags so I did not format them when inserting windows. Now it is slow tedious task. Question: in the OI palette there is an option for horizontal and vertical offsets for ID tags, what does this affect? I have changed them and see no change.
  17. thank you. I have felt the same way and I know i post a lot of dumb questions that have been answered in the past, but finding them is almost impossible. The " " do help though!
  18. rookie user comment…I just use my middle mouse button to pan. I'm guessing there is good reason to invoke pan from space bar…?
  19. Jim, How does one get to the plants? I need to drop a couple in plan view 2d and elevation 2d also. I see the library, but I probably need to do something make it active, right? Thanks, John
  20. Jim, I doubt you are missing anything. I know I'm missing something. Look at these settings. I made 'windows' class a blue fill so it would be obvious.
  21. Currently all classes are except for glazing. Is just a generic placeholder? Or is it referring to the class (whatever it may be) that you insert windows on? hence the < >. Currently I do not have a 'window' class.

    walls

I love the wall tools. But…when copying a wall they contain remnants of other walls or wall joins that I can't seem to clean up. In the case attached I copied a wall with a door. The original wall had another wall intersecting it. In the copy the intersecting wall was not included but there is the gap from that wall. So I fixed it by changing length of wall + or - and re-joining. Is there another method?
  23. Why are my windows filled? The class they are on is set to 'no fill'. In the attributes palette I can change the fill type and color to anything except 'nothing'. Where is this class controlled? I normally just give up and use a white fill. Is this what we are supposed to do or give it a color besides white?
  24. Glad to know "adjust flipped text" is available. But I wonder why is it necessary? Well besides correcting the flipped text - duh. But when my text looks correct in a design layer, why would it not be in a sheet? What would be a scenario where I would plan to have or know I was going to have text issues? Obviously it must be for something above my pay grade at this point! Thanks, JM
  25. Yes definitely a template file is important and I am working toward one. I just finished a little house, my first complete VW project and I wound up importing a lot of legacy autocad content so there is messy set of layers/classes. It was a good exercise is learning where to control visibilities etc. Now I have to get organized. I need to learn more about setting up my library file. Thanks. JM
