  1. Couldn't agree more, having enough problems with VectorWorks 12.5 then the forum loses my comments as well. S.
  2. Just a suggestion, we would find it useful if hyperlinks could be incorporated into the drawings, to incorporate this information onto the physical drawing and into the worksheets within the drawing. This would be especially useful when PDF'ing files for distribution, maybe controlled with the object info box or linked to a worksheet with all the relevant product links stored. Appreciate the switch back to the V11.5 screen layout in V12.5, V12 was just a bit confusing.
  3. Aware of this as are the rest of the office! ;-) We are also having problems with DXF exporting which crashes almost everytime. Have resorted to exporting to vectorworks 10, then exporting as DXF. Will check out the rest of the board.
  4. I have recently upgraded from Vectorworks 10.5 to 11.5 at work and I'm experiencing a number of reoccurring crashes of the application. The problems occur in the following patterns: 1. Just before an auto-save (set to every 10mins ) and I have tried switching this off an manually remembering to save. 2. During the editing of text. 3. During the moving of an object in 2D. 4. While the application was running idle or after a period of inactivity, both in the background while using a different application and while in the foreground as the sole application. Vectorworks will unexpectedly freeze and the following error message appears: "Vectorworks Application has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry the inconvenience. If you were in the middle of something, the information you were working on might be lost.... (followed by the standard Windows XP 'tell Microsoft about this problem' blurb and 'report error' buttons)." The error signature that have been generated during the crashes experienced today were as follows: "Error signature: AppName: vectorworks.exe AppVer: 11.5.0.37547 ModName: vectorworks.exe ModVer: 11.5.0.37547" Offset codes for each crash below: Offset: 004c7fdc Offset: 0030b677 Offset: 0053709e Offset: 004c13a3 Offset: 00378ecd Offset: 00711e48 Offset: 004c139b Any ideas or solutions? I am currently using the application on the following machine. Intel Pentium 4 CPU 2.40GHz with 512MB Ram running Microsoft Windows XP Professional Version 2002 Service Pack 1 (Similar problems are being experienced with Service Pack 2). 5. Dear Sir or Madam, I have read a number of the threads relating to this and or similar problems on the discussion areas. Below I have listed our computer set up and the problems experienced. Typical PC and software specification: ---------------------------------------- Windows XP Professional Version 2002 Service Pack 1 (with all current updates) Vectorworks 10.5 Printing to HP Designjet 500PS Ram 512MB Intel Pentium 4 CPU 2.40GHz Problem 1. ------------ On one computer when printing it will randomly print white text on a black background, (around 30% chance of occurance). We are working around this by printing using Vectorworks Viewer 10.5 which prints the drawings fine. Problem 2. ------------ First occurance on a different machine in the office today of the same problem. The problem appeared to be caused in this instance as follows: 1. I send the drawing to print on HP Designjet 500PS. 2. The small Vectorworks printing dialogue box appears in the centre of the screen. 3. A larger HP Designjet 500PS Spooling dialogue box opened on the screen and begins to send to the HP Designjet. 4. The small Vectorworks printing dialogue box disappears. 5. The HP Designjet Spooling changes to Printing. 6. I then clicked back to Vectorworks to print either the same or a different sheet. 7. Again the small Vectorworks printing dialogue appears, a new spooling dialogue appears but so does the printing dialogue for the first print (which was still being processed). The outcome is the first print will have white text on a black background. The second print, if left to print without repeating steps 3-6 above, will then print okay. Also if I print just one drawing and wait Vectorworks printing dialogue and the HP spooling and printing dialogue boxes to close it prints fine. Any advice or comments to resolve then problems? Kind regards Stuart. [ 06-17-2004, 07:53 AM: Message edited by: Stuart Child ]
  6. Has there been any progress with this in the new editions of Vectorworks (10 and above)? This would speed up drawing issues no end.
  7. Just checked the website link above and this no longer appears to exist. :-( Also keen to find a way of printing all or some selected saved sheets in a single batch without having to either click on each one individually and or pressing ok continually. This would speed up drawing issues no end. (Vectorworks 10.5) [ 02-13-2004, 07:34 AM: Message edited by: Stuart Child ]
  8. This is not so much a problem as possible improvements, I have recently been using the Worksheets resource in Vectorworks 10.5, and found accessing the formatting of the worksheets a little complicated. It might be useful if you could right click (as a PC user) in a box or the whole worksheet and bring up the formatting menu, currently accessed separately via the button top left. This would make it more compatible with the way other 'spreadsheet only' applications work (such as MS Excel and Lotus 123). As we switch often between 123 and Vectorworks worksheets, I always right click to paste data into the V-works worksheet only for nothing to happen. Are there any existing plans to revise this in later releases? Stuart
  9. It wasn't so much that V10.5 is slower than another or earlier version of Vectorworks, rather that two files of the same drawing, one with symbols and hatches and one without but instead grouped, appear to behave differently with the latter updating on the screen almost instantly. I believe that the response to the topic "memory leaks in V10.5" regarding hatches in cavity walls may be the answer. Thanks [ 10-28-2003, 11:19 AM: Message edited by: Stuart Child ]
  10. We have checked the settings on the computers in the office, the machine I work on has the following card installed, "Display Adaptor NVIDIA GeForce2 MX 400 Chip Type: Running GeForce2MX/MX400 DAC Type: Integrated RAMDAC Memory Size: 64MB Adapter String: GeForce2 MX/MX400 Bios Information: Version 3.11.01.26.02" The other machines are running with 32MB cards. I have checked through some of the drawings to make sure there are no unnecessary classes and have checked that there are no 3d objects within a 2d drawing. The real problems arise when symbols are introduced, with no symbols only groups the drawing updates fine, but with more symbols or just one symbol repeated the update of the screen slows and performance suffers. Would there be a great benefit if the graphics cards and memory were improved or would this problem persist?
  11. I have been using Vectorworks 10.5 at work on the following machine configuration - Microsoft Windows XP Version 2002 Service Pack 1, running on Pentium 4 2.40Ghz with 512MB Ram, and have experienced some loss of performance when using symbols within the drawing(s). For example when panning the drawing (ISO A1 sized) with the hand tool or zooming in / out, the drawing on the screen takes a significant period of time to update. Dropping the symbols into groups and stripping out the hatches improves the update speed to the point that it is almost unnoticeable, however this denies the benefits of one symbol being repeated a number of times within the drawing. Any thoughts or advice? [ 10-24-2003, 11:40 AM: Message edited by: Stuart Child ]
