  1. Here is an image. Not the best, but you can see how it looks in the flesh so to speak...
  2. Thank you everyone for your help so far on this. This is very close, but the circular forks sort of morph into the pedestal rather than stay round all the way until they meet. Thats what is making it a head scratcher. Let me upload some actual photos....
  3. Hi Both, Thank you for replying. See responses below: The forked sections are round once they protrude from the pedestal. The circle sections tape slightly, so I figured a tapered extrude may be part of it. But I'm struggling to work out how to get the whole modelling done. If you look at the elevation screenshot there is kind of three parts to them there is the shape of the pedestal (which I easily copied from the .dwg), there is the fork section centrally, and then the tapered 'strut' which again is fairly easy to work out (tapered extrude). Yes this is definitely the right direction, only as per above the forks turn circular (which is not obvious from the plan view screenshot). Thank you. This is definitely helpful for the arms of the fork, but its getting from the shape of the polygon of the pedestal, into the circular forks that I can't work out. Ryan
  4. Hi All, Hope this is in the right section, I am trying to create a working 3D model of an usual stage. I've got the .dwg files of the various 2D sections and elevations, but I am struggling with what workflow to take to model the pillars. Please see attached screen shots. As you can see they start from a single base at the stage level, but then fork out and an angle to two separate places in the roof. I've got the straight, single sections but cannot seem to work out what tool or modelling workflow to build the fork sections correctly in VW. Thanks in advance for any tips or suggested workflows to try. Screenshots are from the various 2D .dwgs in my VW project.
  5. Hi all, I've put this in 'workflows' as it seemed the most logical - however apologies if the wrong place. I do set designs for a client that request the use of plants and foliage in the design which having played with plant insertion I am struggling to represent in vectorworks. For example - I want to create truss rings that are dressed with foliage - see attached image - but I struggle to add the plants in VW and get it looking right. The plants I insert are typically image props and oversized for the purposes that I want to use. As I usually try to use multiple to create the fullness they create some weird artifacts when rendering when they foul each other. They typically also can't be rotated due to being hybrid symbols if I want to reorientate them. I am reasonably proficient on VW but haven't ever really used the foliage/plant elements before so would appreciate any tips or workflow suggestions.
  6. Hi, I have a fairly basic VW file that where I am trying render in HL and/or Shaded Polygon on the Sheet Layer, and everytime the render after leaving for 1hr+ just sticks at the 'caching graphics' point and the only way to move forward is to force quit. Screenshot of progress bar attached. I seem to be having HL rendering issues across a number of projects now since moving to 22 and wondered if anyone could offer any suggestions to help? I am on VW22 SP3 on a Mac with Apple M1 Chip, running Monterey 12.2. 16GB RAM. Thanks in advance
  7. @sbarrett Firstly thank you for making this and for sharing. I am having a little trouble with using the tool however and I wondered if you could help? Sometimes, when I move the control handle to align the festoon with where I want to 'rig' it from, the festoon bulbs seem to appear to become detactched from the string and end up hanging at strange heights relative to the string. Then also sometimes when I move the control points, the whole festoon object disappears altogehter. The OIP says that it is still selected but the object has disappeared altogether and can't be found in the docuemnt? If you have any tips or pointers to resolve that would be great as this tool would be so useful to me without these kinks. Thanks in advance
