  1. It would be really great to have some idea ahead of time how long a render might take. The progress bar on the bottom is useless, especially in "indirect lighting" mode - the bar progresses all the way to the end - then sits there for 1 min? 10min? 10 hours? You can not really tell. There are some visual cues, but it is not enough.
  2. I have noticed that my crashes seem to be initiated by my autosave. Has anybody else noticed this?
  3. When I scale a symbol using the provided settings, the wall hole component aspect of the symbol does not scale with the rest. Being able to scale the symbol is real time saver, but not as handy if I cannot use these symbols in walls.
  4. Thanks - I have no problem selecting the object I would like to move. After I have selected object "in my grasp" I would like to move it horizontally to align with a second object. When I press the shift key to keep the object horizontal, I loose the ability to snap to the edge of the aligning object. When I release, I can snap to the edge but it will not snap on the horizontal. I think it may have to do with 3D snapping.
  5. Has anybody else experienced this? I will be trying to move an object horizontally or vertically so I have my shift key pressed, but then I loose the ability to snap to the edge of an object. When I release the shift key, I then snap - but I will no longer be vertically aligned.
  6. One of the main reasons I am moving to VW scheduling is so the window tags and the schedule will always correspond. I fear that if I make a window a symbol, I will lose the ability to have each window have its own tag.
  7. Pat, I have never thought of making a window symbol a symbol. While VWs really should take care of this (it does not seem that complicated) - that is a clever little work around.
  8. Similar to how wall and slab types work, it would be great to be able to classify windows into "types" and then be able to make mass changes to all windows of that type. Right now, I have started to make my own symbols to use as windows so that when there is a change, I can modify the symbol and have the changes reflected across the whole building. Changing a mullion height for example across a 20 story building can take a little bit of time if you have to select each window 1 by 1 or even if you are group selecting. I do not like my symbol solution because I have lost all of the parametric controls over the window. This would be nice for scheduling purposes as well.
  9. Are you using an educational version?
  10. No it was not checked. I was unaware of that option.

Image props is really the way to go. Way lighter and if prepared correctly - they look great.
  12. That is what I have to do. The problem then re-surfaces at some later point.
  13. I am now getting this problem once a day at least. Is this a file size issue?
  14. That is even worse! I will have to double check mine.
  15. I have found the selection process much improved. The auto-highlighting - which is an option you can turn off - is a feature I find decreases the amount of miss-selections. You can also change the amount of time you have to hover on an object before the pre-selection indication appears. Even changing that to an 1/8th of second means objects will not pre-select as your mouse simply passes over them. Check out the options in VW preferences - interactive preferences - you should be able to modify the behavior to your liking. There is also a new Rhino inspired feature that when your mouse is over multiple objects a * appears. If you hold down the Cntrl key or right click - a list appears allowing you to select the desired object.
  16. This could become a really powerful tool with a few more work throughs. Automated elevation benchmark diagrams!
  17. I have been playing around with the new "stories" organization on a new project in our office. One thing I am already looking for is the ability to add an elevational reference without having to add a design layer. Right now I have Slab, Walls, Interior Walls, Furniture, and Ceiling. I would like to add Top of Parapet, Top of Bulkhead, Counter Height ect - but I do not want to have to have design layers for those. I want to build and hold my geometry on the few layers I have - but be able to reference those elevational heights. Possible?
  18. This would be a nice feature. You could have the option to "Show Open" or "Show Open Dashed" 2013?
  19. I spent a small chunk of my day battling the tool. This tool - though slightly better in 2012 - is still a total mess. I think it needs to be reconcieved from the ground up.
  20. I, too, found that though the warning dialog appeared, it was actually saving a file - PHEW!. I smells of a RAM issue to me. I have seen similar issues when dealing with large photoshop files.
  21. Thanks but the file was not moved. Both "Save" and "Save As" were met with the same error: "Action can not be preformed due to lack of memory." I do not think it was a path issue.
  22. I do not understand why this happens. I have 350GB of free disk space - so it is not that kind of memory - and I have 16GB of Ram - so I should I have plenty of that type - what is VW talking about? What can I do to avoid the problem? I think it is time that VW hopped on the 64bit train.
