  1. 1+ on importing Grasshopper if possible. I am very excited (and intimated) by this. Hopefully, the community will sprout up to share scripts pretty quickly. If one doesn't, I will start one.
  2. Project Sharing: Will this new feature come with new smart tag objects? Are we going to be able to get auto-updating title blocks and tags based on the location of of viewports now that the whole project is contained in a single file?
  3. I see this causing so many problems. I do see offices using a design layer for Always front objects to solve this issue - which is a dissatisfying workaround. Maybe it could be class controlled? Maybe certain classes could be set to have a Z value - like layers - so these special classes can be stacked to give a hierarchy.
  4. To clarify - even though you are autosaving - as the system stands right now - the work is lost unless you commit. There is no way to open up an autosaved version and reconnect it to the master file. If that is the case - autocommit seems necessary. Thanks!
  5. Thanks Jim, How does project sharing handle local crashes. If I check out a couple design layers - how does autosave work and what happens if I crash?
  6. Project Sharing: As you said - it is a little hard to follow. At first I thought it was just a comment system - but on rewatch it seems to suggest the long awaited - 1 project -> 1 master file system. Is that what I am seeing? If so - that's no bling - that is a fundamental organizational shift in how the software works and a complete rework on how projects are managed. Can you share any narrative that will shed some light on what is going on in that video?
  7. I am working on my PC and I am wondering why the Snapping Pallet dock differently then all the other pallets. Why can I not dock it on the left or right inline with my other pallets?
  8. When creating a new door - 2 unwanted classes are created. There does not seem to be a simple way to keep this from happening. Even if I change the default classes to what I want them to be - everything reverts back to the default settings when the door is actually placed on the document. Glazing-Clear is created no matter what I do. I have created templates before that solved this problem but I can not seem to set up the document to stop doing this. Please help! File attached. You will see that there is no Glazing-Clear because the class was erased. But as soon as you place a door - even if you change the class options before hand - it will create this class - and the changes settings will not stick. Thanks for you help!
  9. The only issue is that changes the size of ALL text - not just door tags. Can we get page-scale door tags next release? Thanks!
  10. The tracking does seem to affect the 'I' but just not as much as it affects all the other letters.
  11. Along with this - it would be great to be able to drop styles - specifically wall styles from one wall to another. Many people I work with like the idea of wall styles but end up deciding to use unstyled walls because they are easier to change. They can use the eyedropper to copy attribute from one unstyled wall to another - but you can not do that with styled walls with components - which makes styled walls just cumbersome enough to use that many people opt not to use it at all.
  12. I always thought that the door and window tags were page based symbols, but a client of mine pointed out that that is not true. The tag scales with the viewport. This seems wrong to me - as the tag should remain the same size no matter what the scale of the drawing. Am I doing something wrong? How do I set up the tag to be a page base? Thanks! Tom
  13. For doors and windows it would be great if you could use the eye dropper tool to copy all attributes of a door or window EXCEPT the Schedule ID Label, ID Prefix, and ID Suffix. Sometimes we will need to change the look / size of a bunch of doors but do not want the ID information to change. Thanks! Tom
  14. This is a complex question - while there is some very real truth to - if it ain't broke don't fix it - the nature of software / hardware compatibility occasionally necessitates upgrades. I do VW consulting and most of my work revolves around this very issue. I would be happy to speak with you in depth - learn more about your situation and help you make this decision. Feel free to write me an email - tklaber@gmail.com
  15. It would be great if there was a sprinkler tool that would calculate the coverage of sprinkler head based on the walls around it and produced a plan to show coverage. This would be really nifty.
  16. I love the tracking option for text, but it does not do such a great job. It seems to have trouble with 'i's. Take a look at the attachment to see what I mean. Thanks!
  17. When I use the publish command to do a set print, and then select all the items to change the print settings, even though it looks like all the items are selected, the changes to the print settings will only affect the first item on the list. I am not sure if this is a bug or just the way it is supposed to work, but it would be great if I was able to change setting and parameters on multiple items once while inside the publish command dialog. Thanks! Tom
  18. I created an auto hybrid object that seems to have a glitch. It disappears if I change it's class. Even if I have all classes on, the object disappears forever. Have you seen this before Jim? Thanks!
  19. Word of warning: don't get excited about the interface, it's just the graphics they've chosen to use for this video I believe. I had to temper excitement in the office as some thought that the video was indicating a new UI. VW should move in that direction. It is a nice video. The graphics team did a good job, but it does not look as if the graphic language of the video will get rolled out across VW. The photo of the box is just using a green version of 2014. I liked the opening VECTORWORKS 2015 logo in the video. A guy in my office even comment - "Wow, it is looks like a real company now." (He is italian, English is not his first language - but I know what he means.) Now that all the engineers have completed the 64 bit transition, maybe a interface refresh can start in earnest.
  20. Can you expand on what the worksheet enhancements are? Worksheets are one of the most frustrating things of VW. They are so powerful and useful but SOOO terrible to use.
  21. Yes and no, actually. - you need Renderworks - it is a hidden line rendering - it does not pixelate - the output is a vector Excellent! I was worried about that.
  22. PDFs that come out of VW tend to be HUGE. Has any work been done on the export to decrease the size of VW created PDFs?
