  1. I have a few windows inside of some symbols I created... (a cupola that duplicated in a couple of places)... the windows in this symbol are not showing up on my window schedule... is there a way to get these windows to show up... do i have to add something to the criteria... or do i need to un-symbol my cupola symbols to get them to show... any idea welcome...
  2. never mind.. .figured it out on my nOOby own... i just drag another instance of the sum icon onto the column I don't want summed with the rest and it does not sum it... very confusing... but at least it works, which is more important. thanks again
  3. works great... thanks... however I just noticed that on my schedule it is also taking the sum of the width and height dimensions... so I have (two) w-1 @ 3'1" wide each, but the schedule is saying it is 6'2"... any way I can get it to not sum this value, but keep the sum of the replicated window label????
  4. This post helped me in what I am doing as well, thanks... but I had wanted to take CW's original question a step further... Is there a way to get the qty. to show in the row that is "summed" so it would show only one entry for w-1... but also show the qty of them in the schedule
  5. ya what you said... I see the extra pound you added to the record (sheettitle_SD##) allows multi lines, but any edits thru the issue manager or the sheet edit menu do not automatically update the title block anymore.... so close... yet not working... I'm assuming it must have worked, or at least was intended to work if it is in the help documentation... oh well.. perhaps someday
  6. Has anyone figured out a way to get a second line with the automatic sheet title... the help documentation says to use the suffix _SD# I did this and it shows more space in the issue manager, but whatever I type in the additional lines does not show up once I hit ok, and is erased if I re-enter the issue manager. is this a bug?
  7. hey all... still real new to VW, and we just upgraded a few seats to 2010... just wondering if there is some sort of batch re-save for all of our symbol libraries or is it the norm to open up every single one and re-save it so it will open in the resource browser... just wondering
  8. thanks for the tip, but what do you mean check symbol definition... no matter what symbol I choose in the section marker style menu the text remains stacked... this is getting annoying for me... I just started another drawing fresh and it is still doing it.
  9. No one has any ideas?.... I'll take some long shots... is it a bug... is their a work around??? I have a presentation next week... any help would be greatly appretiated
  10. Can someone give me some ideas to why my section keys are stacking the item and sheet number on top of each other, rather than spacing them on different lines. I have adjust flipped text off in the preferences and I have fooled around with different marker styles, text styles, text spacing... etc with no luck. here is a pic of what is happening to all my section markers.
  11. its weird because in some walls it was showing the mystery line in hidden line mode and some walls it wasn't... regardless I think I found the setting that made things go coo-coo for cocoa puffs sometimes with that extra line. It seems like in the sill/stool settings of my version of VW(2009sp4) does not like you to have the stool lip or stool nose set to 0. I originally had it set this way because I did not want the stool to show up in my plan... I can still achieve this graphically however by just setting the number to .00001 the settings round it back up to 0, but the mystery line goes away 100% of the time so far. thanks for everyone's ideas.
  12. Good to know... I am on sp4, and I added the requested info to my sig for future refrence. I think it might be linked to my exterior sill... if I un-select "include exterior" sill the mystery line goes away... however so does my sill. I've been playing around with the window settings to see if one of the values for the sill will make the lines go away in hidden line mode, but with no luck so far. perhaps it is a weird glitch that was fixed with VW 2010...
  13. I colored the "extra line" in question red to show what I am talking about...
  14. I am having a problem with my model... not sure if this is a bug... or I am missing something... hoping the later becuase I want to fix it... There are extra lines around the outside of my window trim in hidden line mode... other instances in the same file there is not. In the attached file the wall and windows on the left do not show these lines in elevation when rendered in hidden line mode, but on the right they do... what I am i missing??? any ideas???
  15. I am going thru my door data on my plan to start to create a door schedule.... however one of my doors I've flipped the orientation to open against the wall the way I want it... the problem is when I turn the tag on to show on schedule the tag text is mirrored... any ideas on how to get the text to show the right orientation and leave the door swing where it is?
  16. thanks... but I was looking for something too span multiple monitors... or at the very least rip the file window away from a maximized application window to sit on the other monitor... similar to the adobe's CS suite... I tried manually stretching the application window but I am not a big fan of working in a non-maximized application window... I end up clicking on background programs or moving it by accident... I take it there is no way to achieve this yet though... thanks for the tip anyway... I'll put this on my wish list...
  17. Is there a way to edit the registry or some file hidden in the program install so that I can get multiple VW2009 application windows on the same machine... I'm guessing its disabled for stability issues... but it would be nice on my multi-monitor machine for the few quick times I need to copy, past, and reference other VW files without having to do the minimize / maximize dance with a single instance of vector works... just wondering...
  18. I'm not quite sure how to post a file in the "full reply" interface I see on my end... (using Firefox 3) however I am using VW fundamentals/arch/renderworks "out of the box"... I think the flange is built into the default window object... its there with exterior trim... its not there when there is no exterior trim.
  19. Thanks for the help, but I found the answer... or a work around at least... basically its me being a nOOb to the program... my wall class had the shingle texture you see on the jpg, but my main window class (not the trim and sash parts in the pio settings) had a default white solid fill... easy workaround was to change the class texture of the main window to match what I had on my exterior wall, and it blended the flange thing away (even though I never figured out what the flange is).... while the PIO parts settings allow me to override my trim and sash with the special style classes to have the various different trim textures. thanks for the idea though islandmon...
  20. New user... tried searching for the answer with no luck. I'm having a problem placing a window in a wall with one of the settings to include a 3" trim casing along the sides and top... looks great in hidden line mode, but in openGL it puts what looks like a nailing flange around the outside of the trim... if I change the settings to not include the exterior trim it does not place this flange.... How do I get rid of this flange so it looks like my siding is butting up to the window trim casing. I tried to embed a picture into this post... hope it works...
  21. new user... Is there a simpler way to create a hatch pattern... such as converting a symbol, or copy and pasting lines I draw into the hatch menu, or something along those lines... or is the Modify->Hatch menu what I get to work with for creating custom hatches? just wondering... thanks, Tim
  22. Thanks... I did not realize that I could hit "no" after re-checking the auto-naming, and things would stick... thanks for the head's up on the pio's too...
  23. hey everyone... new VW user, our office (architectural firm) bought a seat and I am in charge of completing the first project in it... I am currently stuck on the following... here's my delema... I set up my file to have auto-classing in the naming standards... I have drawn the existing, and now want to place some things on the demo class... I can not place certain window objects on the demo class unless I uncheck the auto-classing option... I would like things to still be auto-classed...just not a couple of these window objects... is there some sort of overide to get certain windows on the demo-class?... any help is appreciated... I tried doing a search to no avail, hopefully I put this in the right forum. thanks, Tim
