soft goods- split center

Hi, I'm having trouble controlling:

1. the color of my soft goods 

2. having a center split

 

1. I managed to get a black and red drape with much trial and error using both the soft goods tool and "create objects from shapes"

do you have to select the color at the initial creation?

 

2. I managed to create a center split with the soft goods tool in red, but. couldn't repeat it in black.  Why is the Center drop down menu grey in most instances?

The "Open From" option is only available when the soft goods is made of a single straight segment.

The 2D color is controlled from the attributes palette, the 3D color is set in the 3D options dialog.
