nca777
How do I do this? Seems this should be a very simple operations. In AutoCAD this would take me about 5 seconds. Not finding this to be very intuitive. Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee PVA - Admin Posted March 29, 2017 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted March 29, 2017 Right click on the Hardscape and choose Edit Path, then you can use all the various 2D tools on your source shape. A request is already in to have them work on the hardscape directly, apparently this is difficult since Hardscape objects also interact with other geometry like Site Models in more complex ways than the average rectangle or wall does. nca777
Thank You. This is helpful. A common workflow for Landscape Architects is to draw roads/paths with line segments tangent to the adjoining arc segments. Typically, in AutoCAD these are drawn from centerlines and offset. It seems one could adapt a traditional CAD workflow (drawing lines, arcs, offsets, etc) then create objects from the composed polys. Quote Link to comment
nca777
Just came across an issue with the above method-- when 'editing the path' all other objects/linework disappears when editing inside the 'group' leaving no base linework/objects to reference. In other words, if I have a road meeting another road I need to edit that geometry to meet the road edge. If Im editing the path there is no edge to reference. Quote Link to comment
Jonathan Pickup
try using the reshape tool with the hardscape, or draw a clipping object and use Clip Surface Quote Link to comment
