Visibility Tool and DLVP

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone.

Just a quick workflow question. I use a lot of DLVPs in my files.

I generally start with a large "master file" and filled with what I would call proxy object at the start of a design. As the design progresses I break out these proxies into external files, so that I can detail them up in their own environments, and DLVP them back into the master file, on their own layer.

This is useful as you only work on the bits you need, keeping memory consumption down and also de-cluttering the files. It also allows you to send off files to other designers to fill in their detail independently.

When I make new sheets, I like to switch everything on, and then use the visibility tool to go and click things off, one by one, until I have what I need... Trouble is, sometimes, when you click on a DLVP object, it switches this files layers on and off (what I like) but sometimes it changes the visibility options inside the viewport itself. Can't seem to get it to permanently behave one way or the other.

Is there a way of toggling whether it's doing this files' layers/classes, or to switch it to visibilities within viewports? (a bit like it behaves on the sheets?)

Thanks in advance..
