Wall joins

Recommended Posts

Question,

why when two walls are joined, such as a stud wall with gypsum board finish each side or one side only, do the framing lines not join?

When dimensioning a wall I wish to link to the connection of the framing, not the drywall. Is it a setting or something else?

And no, I do not want to only use walls without the drywall finish attached.

Occasionally, you have to go back and tweak them with the wall join tool and/or the Component Join tool depending on whether or not you are using components. Be sure to select the correct joining method - i.e. "T" join or "L" join.

To dimension to face-of-stud or face-of-sheathing, just turn the exterior cladding and/or sheathing off and snap your dimension strings.

Hi guys,

I have the exact same issue as the original post by djb. I have not run into this until upgrading to version 2015. When I T-join two walls (2x4 w/ drywall each side for example) the walls join at the exterior face, so the drywall of one wall runs continuous behind the framing of the intersecting wall. The components do not automatically join and it takes several attempts with the Component Join tool to adjust. I can ultimately get the results I want but it seems a waste of time. Thoughts?
