When all else fails, you can use the "Mullion Tool", then just Group the Mullions with the Window (or you can create a Symbol). It takes a bit of fiddling, but it works. FWIW, you can also use simple extrudes. When I do that I put them in their very own class with only gets turned on for Elevations (and sometimes the background of a Section).
