I dont know if this is a problem with my computer or vectorworks. I can render in design layers but can only render with open GL in my viewports. It has only started happening in the last couple of days so am confused!

What specifically happens when you try to render in Renderworks modes in a viewport? The option is not available or do you run into an error/crash?

The rendering bar starts showing it is working, the viewport goes black, but does not progress from there

This occurs even in a new document with just a sphere or cube as a rest object, rendered in a Renderworks mode in a viewport as well?

Thanks for that. I ended up giving the computer a full antivirus, malware scan and removed unwanted programs with msconfig and it seems to be working now!

My exported image and pdf files appear very faded, as if the entire image was greyed. It does not appear that way on the screen and happens in all render modes. I manipulate ambient and other lighting with no significant improvement in the washed-out look. I'm sure it is something simple - operator error.
