2D and 3D component Changes

Recommended Posts

This is kind of wierd. I have some moving light fixtures that i have on my plot both hung and floor. Then i will turn off a class and then the component changes to something else. Is there something that i have checked somewhere. I added the dropbox to see if you can duplicate the problem. Then when i try to create a legend and go to edit layout there isn't an image there?

Thanks

I'm not totally sure what you're asking, but I do see...:

1) The elements making up the 3D parts of your Symbols are all assigned to the "None" Class (including the underlying geometry for the extrusions).

2) The elements making up the 2D parts of your Symbols are all assigned to the "Martin Pro Fixture Lines" Class.

My guess is that what you're seeing is a combination of which Classes are visible (or not) and (remembering that your Symbols are Hybrid objects) whether you're in Top/Plan or one of the 3D views.

Does that help, at all?

I might be a bit lost. I imported the Martin components i wanted. Then when i placed them on the truss i choose the Lights - Instruments Hung class, and the stage choose the Lights - Instruments Stage class, both in the light plot layer. Do i need to do something to have them in the Lights Class not sure why they are in the None. Notice when you turn off/on any class the symbol changes to something other then what was imported. Can you describe to me how to take all the fixtures I have in the lakeave4 and put the elements into a class that stays. I actually have never turned the None class off. It has always been there. I am hoping it is something I checked somewhere or probably this import to the right class thing. Rather then unloading VW and reinstalling it.

Think i may have found something. I turned all the classes on. Then began to turn off the ones that i didn't want to view and they didn't change to that 3d view of the light on all the fixtures. In my project there are a couple of classes that were added I guess from when i imported from MartinPro Fixture Lines and MartinPro Fixture Text which i had turned off at somepoint thinking that they were not needed. Soon as i turned them back on my fixtures where the way they were suppose to be. Hot dog.

It looks like you figured out the fix. Congrats. When you have a minute, take a look at the Symbol definition (right click in the Resource Browser and select "Edit.") When in the definition, you'll see the geometry assigned to the Classes you've been chasing. Meaning...the visibility of your MAC 700 in 2D depends on those Classes being visible AND the Class to which the Symbol, itself, is assigned in your drawing. That opens you up to a ton of flexibility - but potential confusion, as-well.

Have a good one!
