How many posts and wishes are there for control of unit display in individual dimension objects? Answer: LOTS!!
The dual dim is necessary for its intended use (we do need duals sometimes)
But its cumbersome as a way to switch an individual dim to another unit style.
Changing units pref affects the all existing units in the entire drawing. This is a desirable feature, but not at all useful for changing a
My wish:
1. A field or pulldown in the OIP of any selected dimension objects (esp linear but we could add area & volume) where I can choose the unit style (inches, feet, feet & inches, mm, M, etc) for that dim leaving other dims unaffected, leaving future dims in the pref style). This could also be useful for a momentary translation of the value, eg I can toggle to see equivalent acre or sq ft or sq yd for the object.
2. A Units Pref option or menu command to switch to a new style for future dim objects, but leave all existing units intact .
The Text command is a perfect model for this.
3. Yes, keep the current options available. (but that pref for global change is scary!)
