The Stake object in v2011 allows you to control the position of the label text (left, right or otherwise) with a second click.
In v2012 you have to set the position to auto, right, left or centred and then change it in the object info palette if you need to.
The advantage with the v2012 behaviour is that you only need to make one click. For the kind of thing we use it for?placing coordinates on plans?we prefer to the v2011 behaviour, because it allows us to avoid overlapping other coordinate labels without having to go to the object info palette.
The behaviour we'd really like, however, is a second click to control the position of text but for that position to be anyway (not just left or right) and for the leader line to extend to that label wherever it happens to be. Like the attached screenshot.
