I follow your wish list items and I must say there is potential in them. I just came upon a situation where a detail cube could come in handy:

I now make a full terrain on one layer, and one that only goes up to 2m around the building on a different layer. This is for viewing purposes and making my needed viewports easy. If only I could use such a detail cube, I only have to make one layer with the full terrain, and use such cube to have only the piece of it with the model I need for making my views.

yes, i have had the same problem but never thought of what you did. good idea.

i have an idea. get the program called screenflow. they have a free demo that is a full version, (or you can buy it $99) it just has a water mark. then make a video the way i do and post it w/ the water mark. it is still readable
