Custom selection

Recommended Posts

Is there a way to do a custom selection of items that have a fill type of 'hatch', or of items whose lineweight is not one of the 5 preset (i.e. is there a way to pick 'Set thickness')?

I'm not sure if you can do the hatch, perhaps a Vector Script can, but you can do a selection based on custom line thickness.

The trick is that you have to define the custom line thickness as one of the options in the attribute panel. To do this go to the page menu and select "Set Attribute Defaults" -> "Line Thickness...". Here you can define one line style to be what ever you like. When you perform the custom selection, the line thickness menu should reflect the previous change.

Of course the easy way to do this is would be with a 1 line script "SelectObj((LW=46));" where 46 is the line weight. Unfortunately, I'm far from a VS master. I think for a hatch you would have to sort through all of the objects in the document or selection and test for the hatch being assigned.

Thank you for the reply, but that really doesn't help me. If I use a total of 9 thicknesses, I'm constantly changing the att default thicknesses when I need to do custom selection. As for selecting hatches, I don't see why the same logic that governs the obj info fill type field can't be used in custom selection.

Great idea, T.S.

I'll be sure to add this to the wish list so that hopefully in the future this feature will be added to the Custom Selection Tool. The current Custom Selection Tool 2 has many options, but cannot pull a Hatch as part of the selection process. grin.gif" border="0
