Referencing dwg

VincentCuclair

Question

I would like to see the implementation of direct referencing of the dwg format into VWs instead of first having to import and save as vwx. This would greatly simplify and strengthen the multi-file reference workflow VWs is based on, plus it would save huge amounts of time for us in the process. (99% of the time files from other parties/professions are dwg and considering they are updated/revised in general once every week or 2 during the design process = a lot of extra work at the moment).

Another potential advantage is that file sizes would greatly reduce.

Non chargable????

Any time taken to create the finished product deserves payment, except maybe making tea or coffee, that's why they call someone that is capable of doing the job, whatever it takes. . . . . Otherwise they'd try to do it themselves. Which ever field.

Nevertheless, VW does need to embrace the fact that foriegn file use in VW is ESENTIAL!

Actually they don't do it themselves, they just hire the guy down the street who uses AutoCAD and charges less because he doesn't have to deal with this stuff.

Not everything deserves payment. Let me clarify my previous post. A couple of extra hours beyond "how long it should take" is one thing, but 25%-30% of my drafting time is way too long. It should take a very small percentage of my time to import backgrounds and that is what I can charge for. Beyond that, I am working for free.
