michael john williams
VW will only open in the lower task bar and then only as maximise or minimise, taking up the full screen or no screen....most annoying, especially when running several applications on my pc. It aslo happens with other applications such as word and internet explorer. So this may not be an exclusive vw issue but thought I would cast it out there in the hope that you experts may know the answers as its driving me nuts! Quote Link to comment
michael john williams
Was happening to a number of applications but now its just vw - minimise or maximise - is there a setting in vw to adjust? Quote Link to comment
michael john williams
In fact it only happens on vw2009 and not vw2009, which we have just installed, which means its a vw2009 problem. Quote Link to comment
michael john williams
I take it no one has a solution or is having the same problem? Quote Link to comment
brudgers
Have you restarted windows? Have you run defrag? Are you running the required obsolete version of Quicktime and exposing yourself to the mandated security risk? Edited October 7, 2009 by brudgers Quote Link to comment
michael john williams
How do you restart windows? Do you mean re install? If so, I would not want to reinsall as other window applications are not affected and this may not be the problem. Yes, I have defraged. I was on the QT that came with 2009 but it may have upgraded itself - the version is 7.6.4 Quote Link to comment
michael john williams
The funny thing is that the Object Ino and Attribute Palletes stay open on the screen while window is minimised?? Quote Link to comment
brudgers
Restart windows -> shutdown and cold boot. Could also be a video card problem. I use the drivers from Dell for my Precision T7400. I had poor results with the manufacturer's (Nvidia) latest drivers. Quote Link to comment
brudgers
BTW, I had some odd vectorworks behaviour last week. The application was cloning itself...running two copies. After I rebooted it went away. Quote Link to comment
michael john williams
Well re installed vw09 and qt and problem still there. Quote Link to comment
brudgers
Am I correct in assuming that: if you hit the resize button while vectoworks is in full screen the application window appears to minimize? Then maybe the application window is not actually minimizing. Instead the application window is shrinking down to a very small size and locating itself behind something that's always on top such as the task bar, windows task manager or something like that. michael john williams
You only have the option of minimise or maximise. In the top right hand corner of the vw window you get a - two overlapping squares and a X. Well in my 2009 there is two overlapping squares but they will not change to a single square to allow the window to be adjusted. Quote Link to comment
brudgers
Is this the application window, or the drawing window within Vectorworks? Quote Link to comment
michael john williams
The application window Quote Link to comment
brudgers
If you only have the options of minimize and maximize then the window is in resize mode...even if it takes up the full screen. Double clicking on the title bar will maximize it. You should then see the resize icon and the minimize icon (and of course the close icon). Is this what you get? Quote Link to comment
michael john williams
No, tried that and it does not work. It does appear to be in resize mode when maximised as the window icon in the top r/h corner is 2 squares overlapping rather than one square, but double clicking on the title bar minimizes it down to just the task bar. Funny it leaves 2 palletees object info and attributes left on the screen. No restore mode is highlighted in the task bar when vw is minimized. This is really a pain! Quote Link to comment
michael john williams
I think I have crached it! Tried switching the dual monitors a round, played with the settings, made vw open up in diffrent monitors and low and behold resize mode returned. Funny how it affected only vw2009 and not 2008 and not other applications. Hope it is sorted now - may appear a small problem but a real pain! Thanks brudgers for your help. Quote Link to comment
brudgers
No problemo. It's too bad NNA can't be bothered with Windows logo compliance. Quote Link to comment
