BSinCO13
Let's see if it works this time. Forgive the double post if they both work, sorry. I am running Vectorworks 12.5 and and doing complicated building elevations with multiple overlaping viewports on a sheet. My question is how can I change Vectorworks to not refresh the view every time I do anything with the drawing (i.e. draw a line, change view slightly)? I come from using AutoCAD and you use a command to refresh the view when you want to and not when the program wants to. Any help at all would be appreciated as I'm getting quite upset sitting waiting for the screen to refresh constantly. Quote Link to comment
CipesDesign
VW's will automatically alert the user when changes have been made to a design layer, and when such changes affect a particular VP then that VP will have a bold red dotted line around it. Just because VW's gives you this 'clue' does not mean that you are obligated to click the Update button. Sometimes I work for a long time without doing so (because of the time it takes to update). That said, if you want to be able to see any changes made actually reflected in the VP then you will need to Update. Otherwise what you are looking at is the most recent (prior) Update. Actually that would be great if that is what it was doing, unfortunately whenever on a sheetview it refreshes the view constantly just like when working in the drawing space. Do you know is there a setting to toggle between these two modes. My viewports do not show live sections or elevations as that is how the drawing was started before I got a hold of it. Thanks again for any help. Quote Link to comment
CipesDesign
Can you give us a specific example of an action you take that causes the screen to refresh (or redraw?)? It might also be helpful to know in which 'area' you are adding data (ie: in Annotations, directly on a sheet layer, or in a design layer). Also, what is your hardware/OS/VW's version (exact, as in 12.5.???)? Quote Link to comment
BSinCO13
Thanks for the help so far, a specific example would be me in a sheet view and I edit a symbol the entire drawing redraws itself. It does this if I'm on the sheet, in a viewport (crop & annotation) or anywhere else in the sheet view. It is very frustrating as it can take 2 hours just to change some elevation tags in the viewport annotations. Thanks again for the help. Quote Link to comment
Oyvind
Normal behavior should be automatic updating of wireframe and sketch rendering modes, manual updating of all other modes. What kind of rendering mode is applied to the viewport? Is this a problem with a single file or all VW files? Quote Link to comment
