Peter Eichel
I just went from a 128M ATI 9600 radeon to a 512M ATI HD2600PRO video card with the expectation that my rendering would speed up considerably. It has not! Any ideas? Quote Link to comment
islandmon
It has not! Any ideas? could it be that your rendering is being done by the CPU and not the VPU ? Quote Link to comment
Guest
I don't think the video card has anything to do with render times. islandmon is correct; all of that is being handled by the processor(s). Your new video card may be better at retaining an OpenGL rendered model while you do live walkthroughs. Quote Link to comment
islandmon
A quick note: http://developer.apple.com/graphicsimaging/coreimage/ "Core Image is designed to perform GPU-accelerated image processing operations at blistering speeds to create spectacular visual effects and transitions. It includes a large library of built-in filters that can be used to enhance still images, process RAW photos, generate video effects, and visualize scientific processes. You can also create new filters that harness the power of programmable graphics hardware for your own custom algorithms." This is the future ... and your new videocard is ready for it ! Seth / MG
Yes, but can it share raytracing load with the cpu? Quote Link to comment
