Dieter @ DWorks
Now that i reinstalled my pc, almost everything works fine. There is only one little problem: Every workspace I make gets corrupted. So I am doomed to use the standard workspaces that comes with VW. I do not know why this happens, but what parameters can cause a corrupt workspace? Or is it not know what causes it? Are there things you may not do in a workspace? Or other options to be aware of? Quote Link to comment
rsa
I'm interested in the answer to this too. I had the same problem and ended up customizing a workspace - then immediately copying it to another location on my hard drive. When it would get corrupted I'd paste the good copy back into the workspaces folder. However, I haven't had this problem in a while - I have no idea why... Quote Link to comment
Dieter @ DWorks
The problem is that it seems to become corrupted when it is created. Can this has something to do with a kind of conflict between VW and my PC? because the only 2 programs I have trouble with are VW and IE. Quote Link to comment
rsa
This is over my head. However, when I was having some of my workspace problems I called VW tech support and they emailed me new workspace files. Maybe you should try that. Maybe your original workspaces have gotten corrupted. Quote Link to comment
P Retondo
D, I have the same basic software as you, and haven't experienced workspace corruption in a long time. A couple of things to look at: version of Quicktime (workspaces are a .qtr file)and custom or 3rd party tools you have added. Quote Link to comment
Guest
Dworks - How are you creating the workspace? Quote Link to comment
rsa
Duh- the workspace editor... Quote Link to comment
Guest
Well, there are several approaches to creating a custom workspace. (Duplicating an existing, creating one from scratch, editing an existing, editing a previous version, etc.) I was asking DWORKS how he was doing it to see if his method had something to do with the repetitive corruption issue he is having. I'm completely aware the workspace editor is used to arrange a workspace. Quote Link to comment
Dieter @ DWorks
I just copy the standard one and then add my custom objects to it. my version of quicktime is 6.5.1 (because i reinstalled my pc), so I will try to update it and see if it work. rsa
Whoops - I thought you were calling us dorks - dworks... Quote Link to comment
Guest
Try adding the custom objects one by one (after updating to the latest version of QuickTime) and see if one of them is triggering the corruption. Quote Link to comment
Dieter @ DWorks
I updated quicktime, put my 'corrupted' workspace back in, and I had no problem at all. I do not know what's happening here. PS: I think my pc is alive! Quote Link to comment
Dieter @ DWorks
I thought it worked, but It stays the same. Quote Link to comment
Dieter @ DWorks
Well, katie, I do not know what all of this has to do with my videocard, but ever since I updated his driver (yesterday evening), all works fine. I looked at the version and it was from 2004, so I updated it Quote Link to comment
