PDF Export: meta data

Christiaan

Question

It would be good if the PDF export function supported meta data, e.g. Title, Author, Subject and especially Keywords. This would help a lot when searching for files. It would also help visibility of meta data, which is definitely a good thing.

My preference would be for the ability to enter this data manually at the PDF export dialogue window but also to have Title Block record data fill it in automatically with suggested content (off by default), such as using 'Project Title' for Title and 'Drawing Title' for Subject, etc.

I think you're right if you're just using the default search, but Spotlight allows you to search a multitude of meta data: click command-f and then change Kind to Other and it will drop down a whole bunch of options. Also Apple's isn't the only OS to take into account with regard to search.

In any case meta data is also useful when your PDF doesn't contain text or doesn't contain text that people are likely to use when searching for it.
