12.5 Find and Modify bug?

OK, so I'm using 12.5 on OS 10.3.9, and Find and Modify just plain doesn't work. The drop down where it gives you the options for the field you've chosen is always blank

for example, you can select <light> whose <class> = <(empty)>

so is this a bug or is it my copy? anyone else had this?

yeah...so you know what happens when you import an older file that was poorly made to begin with? all of your lights get labeled 'true' under device type instead of 'light'. And then find and modify doesn't work
