Associated drawings

Delmer

Question

OK, maybe not for version 12, but it shouldn't be too long till we can have say, a framework for a section still live with the 3D model and all the 2D details such as cut wood/steel, insulation etc, associated to the 3D framework like dimensions are associated to the objects you snap them to. Adjusting a relatively simple model will give the option of adjusting all the complex 2D items associated with it.

Can't be all that far off can it?

You could also have things like a very nicely detailed window section and link it like a hybrid to a particular window in plan, to be called upon not when switching to a 3D view, but when switching to a section view.

OK, time to stop dreaming and get back to work. Its not going to get done by itself.

We can all hope.

Just remember though that the accuracy of your 'live' elevations and sections will be directly dependent on the completeness of your model. If you haven't modelled an element, such as slab thickenings, they won't magically appear.

In my experience completing the model to the detail necessary is where the process gets bogged down. If the design is still changing the process can become a time consuming nightmare.

Being able to easily add 2D detail over the 3D information will be an essential feature.

Live Sections don't need to based on the 3d model, well a least not purely.

We already have a live section of sorts, after all plans are just a section taken horizontally not vertically and plans are live.

So take that same idea turn it 90? and we have a live section.

So if we add a section hybrid to objects along existing plan hybrid and 3d inforamtion.

The programme is along way to good usable live sections.

Indeed somethings likes walls may not even need additional behaviour.

Thing like cassment windows in plan are just awning windows in section with a sill section to replace one of the jambs.

Things like concrete slabs that have a multitude of set-downs ,drop beams and upturns may need to be modeled.

Yet a suspended ceiling could be use the same set up as walls turned 90?, and butt jointed to the walls of the room.
