Infinite lines (similar to autocad's xline) for lining up sections etc

Good wish and I will support it.

 

If you only need vertical and horizontal alignment, then you can place a loci and use a script to control (no longer available through the UI) Snap to Loci preference that give you extension lines off of loci.

 

Make a new script of just the one line below. Every time you run the script it will toggle the extension lines on and off.

 

SetPref(5, not getpref(5));
