have you tried changing the text max width by typing a new value into the box, I could do this in version 12.5 but I cant in version 2008?

OK i'm now going round the twist, cant get the id label tool to work now, the label gets put in strange positions with different text styles & colours

it seems to have changed as I said I can't change the max text width or the marker style from within the object info palette whereas I could do this in version 12.5, see attached screenshots, there is a difference or am I using the wrong tool?

can you change the text width from the object info palette for the callout tool in version 2008 as you were able to in version 12.5?

how do you set up macros to use function keys?

the reason I asked this is that I used to have a 2D cad package that you could program to make tool palettes or a list of menu items appear under the mouse cursor & disappear once you selected the tool or menu item, this saved a lot of time & mouse movement

is it possible to get vectorworks to bring up a tool palette when you press a key, for example one of the function keys & after you've selected the tool you want the tool palette disappears until the function key is pressed again?

this file was originally a version 12.5 file but when its opened in 2008 the text width in the object info palette for call outs shows as zero & can not be cahnged, or at least I cant change it

OK what about a button that does the job of a menu item?

how do you create a tool that does the job of a menu item for example the make guide menu item or clip or add surface?

is there such a thing as construction lines hidden away in Vectorworks, something similar to Xline in Autocad, I know you can convert lines to guides but it would be usefull if you could insert a horizontal or vertical line with just one click of the mouse!

any idea of the upgrading cost

I've been using Vectorworks for about 9 months & I'm finding it a very good package to use except for one thing, how do you know you've selected a line when you've zoomed in to a point where you can't actually see the ends of the line, a lot of other cad packages indicate this by changing the colour of the line you select but Vectorworks just puts blue squares at the end of the line, which is fine when you can see all of the line but when you can't, its crap, is there a way around this problem? have I missed something?

now here's something strange, if I choose the "Rasterize output" when I print, which is supposed to be very slow, the drawing prints within seconds!!!!!!!

can anyone help with the problems I'm having with this printer. I can print a document with a few objects on it but when I try to print a completed drawing the printer will not print.

what configuration did you use? my printer prints through a USB port

is there a way to make Vectorworks zoom to the objects when you change from one design layer view to another or from a sheet layer view to a design layer view for example if I'm working on a detail on a design layer & this might be out side the page boundary & you change to a sheet layer you have to click the fit to window tool to see the objects on the page. Hope this make sense

I was starting to think it me that was the problem & not Vectorworks! I used to have a HP1120c printer that used to work with a thump now & then but it finally gave up the ghost last week (one thump too many)

I've just imported the same dwg file into Vectorworks & Turbocad when I tried to print from Vectorworks it wouldn't print & the file size in the printer utility showed up as 28.2MB when I tried to print from Turbocad it printed fine & quickly & the file size showed up as 524KB so why does Vectorworks create such a large file?

I've tried waiting for the file to print but nothing happens & I dont get an error message. I have had one sheet of a drawing print but that sheet did not contain too much information but when I tried to print the next sheet in the same drawing which had more text & colours it would not print. The pdf file is 932kb & I try to print it from Adobe Reader, I don't get problems with other pdf files. The other CAD program I use is Turbocad which prints fine.

Ok here's another problem between vectorworks & this printer, if I export to pdf from vectorworks & try to print the pdf file, again it wont print, but if I do the same form another CAD package the pdf file prints fine!
