thanks for the reply Katie, seems ive answered my own question the file was from a mac user, it had a single character XP didnt like, got rid of that and files opened fine thanks for you quick reply

i have the same error message when i attempt to open a VW file the file was upgraded to VW12, i have 12.5.2 what does it mean?

ive had the same issue, have you found that not using these characters has made any difference? is it a bug with VW or just windows?

i have run scandisk, system said i didnt need to defrag, and ive keept in contact with the tech guy regarding the issue, i might then need to to try starting fresh and see if it soves the problem

thanks for the interest Pete this problem has affected two files, both were open when XP had a blue screen crash, ie shut itself down when i rebooted and attempted to open the files VW opens and has no porblems (ie other files are uneffected) but the file i was working will not open becuase VW states it's now corrupt. the workgroup referencing allows me to exact model layers from the file so i have some data to continue the project with

ive now two corrupt files from the same project ive both times had a blue screen crash in XP when i reboot VW says the file is now corrupt ive looked thoughout the forum and not really found any thing thats seems to suggest a reason or solution ive got the lastest Video drivers, XP updates using VW12.0.1 QT7.1 can my lastest file be reinstated?ive refernced the design layers out but it the second wasted file setup id really appreacte some suggestions

VW, XP quit on me yesterday the file i was working on now will not open becuase apparently i dont have enough memory, i,ve 1.5Gb the file size when i started was 3.6MB after crassh was 8MB+, i didnt follow the size during the work i did but it was creating classes, layers, little 2D drafting very strange suggestions please

when exiting the notes database manager i received a 'buffer overrun' alert and VW quit the notes database i was using had corupted so many of the notes where gone, other had partialy disappeared qite a concern any suggestions please?

Can you apply an id label to a windoor object? and can you use both windoor & VW objects in the same schdule?
