Thanks to everyone who has replied. In answer: islandmon - I could not see anything untoward in the 'Activity Monitor'. brudgers - the keyboard is working fine, and i'm pressing down on the whole part of the key. Ray and rDesign - I have tried the suggestions, and do not use (nor have) Quicken. Out of interest, I also experience problems with keys in Photoshop, so maybe there is something else running in the background that's preventing the use of the keys. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, Matt

Hi, Occasionally when pressing the shift, alt or ctrl keys, they do not function. I.e when holding shift and clicking more than one object, or alt and click to duplicate an object. Ok - thanks for the advice. I tried an alternative template (VW2009 default) and it seemed to work, that is until I tried it a few times, and once again I couldn't compose the polygons. What seemed even stranger was that when I moved the polygons closer to the centre of the workspace, they would compose, but move them away from the centre of the workspace and they will not compose.

I just hit purge (even though there was nothing else there) and managed to get the size down to 100k. So here it is, many thanks. Matt

I have just tried uploading the file, but its huge! 11mb in size when its just got 2 simple polygons within it. Any clues / suggestions would be great. Thanks Matt

2009 for the mac

Hi, I was just trying to compose two polygons together in a drawing, but the compose function didn't seem to work. I made sure that the points were carefully connected together. But still no joy. However when I tried composing two polygons in another (new document) then the compose function worked fine. For some reason this problem only occurs with polygons and polylines, not lines. Does anyone know what is happening with compose / experienced the same problems? Matt

I have just got back from holiday and started VW 12.5 While merrily working away I keep getting the following message: Internal error - General failure encountered during disk I/O operation. (failure on attempt to open file) Does anyone know what this is trying to tell me - it keeps coming up every 10min or so (leading me to think its when it trys to back-up the file) Thanks, Matt

We have a problem with one of our Vectorworks fundamentals (for mac OS 10.4.10). When drawing a polyline, the ends seem not to close up or extend a little. Also you can't snap to the corners vertex?s. This problem only occurs when drawing a polyline, not polygon. I suspect its a glitch (this particular mac is a problem magnet) in the software. Has anyone come across this before?

Yup - restarted and re-installed a number of times. But still showing as an Apple works icon. When I double click on this icon, it tells me that one of the external resource files (VW Resources.qtr, VW Locale.qtr, or VW Help Resources.qtr) cannot be opened, so the application cannot continue. Very confusing and frustrating, since I managed to update every other computer in the office!

Hi, I am trying to update my copy of VW 12.5 to 12.5.2 on OSX, but when it has finished installing, the icon in the application folder is an apple works icon and not a vectorworks application icon. Therefore I cannot run VW 12.5.2. Does anyone know how to solve this? Cheers, Matt
