Has anyone got any tips on reducing the file size of a drawing. Particularly when using Landmark, files become huge and cumbersome and difficult to e-mail and exchange with other consultants. Any tips much appreciated.

Can anybody help me with creating a wall that curves in 3 planes: plan, elevation and section. The wall in elevation dips into the ground and disappears in places. It leans back an average of say 30? and sweeps curves in plan. Do you know how I can do this? Simply? The wall has a thickness of say 12". It's a rammed earth wall or similar if you're wondering.

Well, after doing some tests it happens in a file that was created in V12 on a G4 powerbook.

Thanks for the advice Islandmon I was never asked to replace the Plug-ins folder. I assumned this has happened automatically. How do I check it? And if it's wrong, where do I get the correct folder from?

I too have had this same problem. I had to resort to asking for dxf files instead.

Using Vectorworks 12.5 on Intel Mac, trying to create a Section Viewport results in CRASH. Even Updating an existing section viewport created in v12 results in CRASH. PLEASE HELP IF YOU CAN!!!!

Dear All who have helped. I am very grateful for the assistance. I found the problem in the Plant Tag Class, which was set to have a black fill for some reason. I promise it wasn't me !

Help please if you can! When I place plants in VW12.5 the plant tags are solid black. What can I do???? I've tried everything but to no avail !!

I think that Landmark needs a 'Vegetation Mix' tool that can select a mixture of different plants at different percentages. I deisgn using percentage mixes of native trees and shrubs over large areas. It's very difficult to do this by placing individual plants. Please can you make this tool for the next up-grade??

I am trying to create simple park railings using the handrail tool. However, I cannot remove the top rail to allow verticals to rise above the horizontal rails as in traditional victorian railings. I need the plan view to show the 10mm x 10mm round veritcals at 100mm spacing. Also, the handrail does not change when I select different styles. Does anybody know what I can do?? I have just upgraded to VW12, but it is crashing after I click the OK button following Plant Catalog editing. What is causing this problem?

Is anyone using a 30" Apple Cinema Display?? I am wondering if the size is worth the price?? Working in landscape architecture, I am thinking that seeing more of the site in plan would be a great advantage. Any comments?

Does anybody have any experience of using the latest advancement in the Wacom Tablet, Cintiq interactive screen tablet, where you input information directly onto the screen using a wireless pen? This is supposed to be the closest you can get to a natural feel. As using the keyboard is quite fundamental in VW, I wonder if there are any advantages in the interactive screen, or whether it is best to stick with a normal tablet and seperate screen. My choice would be between the 21" Wacom Cintiq Tablet or the 30" Mac Display. Any advice??? Info gratefully received. With thanks Matt Davies, London, UK.

I am a Landmark User and thought that I had all the functionality of the traditional Architect package plus the Landmark additions. I neeed to create roofs for structures in my plan and I cannot find the 'Create Roof' function under the 'model' menu on the tool bar. I hope I do not have to spend more on the Architect package to get this function??? Is this the case?? Please let me know.

Has anyone got experience of using a Wacom Cintiq interactive screen? I have been a Wacom tablet user and am now trying to decide whether to invest in a 30 inch Mac display or an interactive display/tablet. I am a landscape architect and so a larger display would be ideal. However, I would be interested to know of the functional benefits of using the Wacom Cintiq interactive display.

I have now found the cause of my problem. Unclosed polygons.

For areas of mass vegetation, it would be really useful to be able to specify a mix of different plant species according to percentages of each plant type and then have a tool that can automaticallly calculate the correct number of each species for a given area. Specifying vegetation using variable mixes is a much needed tool for the landscape architect.

Some of my 3d solids become invisible when rendering in OpenGL. I have linked layers but this doesn't help. The drawing is very simple. When rendering each layer seperately, the same thing happens to some layers. They become invisible. Can you help?
