  1. Cable Types.mp4 @Conrad Preen I think the video demonstrates the issue clearly. If you need a file as well let me know, but it happens on all of our files. It seems that I was wrong about cable types changing when a device moves. However, the second clip shows that the cable type font can change. Cable Types 2.mp4 Cable Types 3.mp4
  2. Similarly, the cable type symbols used to be based on a text style, but now they are easily changed with the active text settings in the main toolbar. This leads to accidentally changing the fonts and the drawings looking sloppy.
  3. After transitioning to VectorWorks 2024, there seems to be a new feature that automatically assigns a cable type based on the signal. Previously, that was not the case. It's detrimental to our current workflow that utilizes larger "signal buckets" primarily for the purpose of a cable number prefix. Signals are Audio, Video, Lighting, Network, etc. "Audio" can have many cable types inside of this category, but once you have assigned a cable type to a signal, any time you move devices the cable type is overwritten based on the signal. Is there a preference that would allow for disabling this function? If not, could there be?
  4. @Tom W. Ah ok. The key thing I missed was that you need a second record to link to the original. That made it simple. Now it works great. Thanks!
  5. @Tom W. I've played with all of the settings for a little while and I can't seem to get them to link the way that I think they should. I have a boolean check box for "Existing" conditions that we want to represent with a data visualization as grey. Ideally, it works both ways where from editing the tag info or editing the object you could check the box and it would be synchronized both ways. What am I doing wrong?
  6. I would like to create a data visualization that overrides the color of a tag based on the information displayed in a data tag field, as the tags have no other link to the objects for them to be visually overridden. There does not seem to be an option that allows you to utilize worksheet functions for a data visualization.
  7. 2024-02-13 12-55-42.mp4 @Andrew Bell No data visualizations and no class colors. Whenever I change my Active pen color, random objects change color.
  8. Hello! I have objects that are randomly turning red in hidden line renders when I am working on a project. It seems like a bug. I am the only person in our office who currently has this issue. It happens across multiple files that I work on. I also just updated to VWX 2024 update 3.1 before posting this just in case. The video does it more justice, but you can see at first nothing changes when I try to update the settings and that the objects should not be red. After "spamming" it a few times, the object will finally take, and in this case, it cascaded to additional items that I did not update. I have noticed this more with objects that would be rigged. Lights, TVs, Speakers, Etc. Let me know if you have any ideas! Red Objects.mp4

  11. Marissa, I looked at this file, and it's a helpful start! Even though I have tried a few things with Marionette, I think what I'll need to do in the end is a worksheet script of some kind that Pat mentioned. It would be ideal to see the results in that format. Frankly, I'm unsure how to get from Marionette to something I can use as a worksheet script. Thank you both for your help so far!
  12. For some better visual reference, we have: The 3D Back Box object with a record. The back box schedule that reports the info from the record A Data Tag that gets moved to a different layer and reports data from the record to create the riser diagram. That keeps everything in sync. A Data Tag that goes on the plans as a viewport annotation that shows the physical location of the box and other record information. We lack a way to validate that all of the boxes are tagged twice, which is critical to our workflow and the communication of this information. We can have over 100 back boxes on a project, so validating this info manually (and hoping the client doesn't change anything) is difficult.
  13. I found DT_AssociateWithObj and built my own Marionette node that will show a True result when I name both the back box and the tag, but I have not been able to get much beyond that so far. I want to be able to check based on the data tag style, and while it sounds simple, it's proving to be a challenge, at least for me.
  14. @Pat Stanford The objects are tagged with the Data Tag tool. It is not a field in the record. The Data Tags reference different information in the record of the back box symbol and are shown on different pages when PDFs are published.
